Just a thought, but an Android client would be really cool so changes could be made from a cell phone, kinda like Direct TV has.

you should be able to access the web interface (EWA/NEWA) via your phone's web browser. I'm able to bring it up on my palm pre+.
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV

NEWA works ok, on my Android tablet although I'd definitely prefer a mobile m.guide interface. I've definitely had trouble streaming media and I've tried mucking with the code but I can't get past the spinning wheel.

To hijack the thread, I tried ewa on an iphone (yes i've converted) and couldn't figure out the streaming settings, pity there couldn't be a client redirect to a mobile version of the site, as I'd rather not change the whole of ewa to a mobile theme.

I tried to use the web interface. Almost every page I open gets a time sync error with the server. I also tried streaming, but the Android doesn't know what to do with a m3u file. I looked briefly for a player, but I couldn't find one. A separate site for mobile devices would be almost as good as an app.

I have been using Air Video to stream recordings to my iphone. I don't know if there is a android version yet. It works really well on the iphone.

Okay! Do you install some server-side component to get Air Video to work, or do you select a share?

Funnily enough I was thinking about suggesting to UJB that a moblile (m.blah) version of NEWA might be a future project earlier today before I spotted this thread.

I'm personally not too bothered about streaming just setting recordings and that sort of thing. NEWA as it is works fine on my Android phone but it's a bit heavyweight for what I need.

Cheers,
Brian

Did you switch the theme to Mobile? Not overly fancy but was created to fit that format much better.
