After cutting back on shelf space and buying an additional 1.5Tb of disk space, I am converting a load of DVDs etc to video files on the PVR. So far I have been using Handbreak to convert them to H264 while keeping the DTS/AC3 audio (use spdif to an external amp that does DD/DTS so dont want to lose those audio tracks). All works well, except I have a habit of arsing up the aspect ratio. Setting the aspect option to "none" seems to do the trick.
What about Blurays? I dont have many but have absolutely no idea what to do with them. I can rip them fine using AnyDVD but am then left with ~38Gb of loveliness. Is there a tool to keep only the main movie, convert to a video file that'll play (e.g. .mkv) and lose the crap you dont want? I've got one that fails the trick of "picking the longest feature" to determine the main movie as that gives the directors commentary... Any googling I've done on the matter comes up with similar quality looking tools to those that advertise here
