easier way to get to currently recording show

for a while i've wished that there was an easier way to play the show currently being recorded (in a one tuner system). right now, when im recording and i select Live TV, i just get an error message that no tuners are available. i'd personally like to have a dialog box come up when i select Live TV that says the tuner is in use, recording XYZ, would i like to watch XYZ? yes/no.

another time when it might be nice to have this is when watching Live TV and a scheduled recording creeps up. as it stands now, gbpvr just exits back to the main menu once the new recording starts. it'd be nice to have the same dialog box pop up at that point. this would double as an implementation of the ability to set "reminders" for shows you want to watch, and have gbpvr switch to it once it starts.

Are you running the most recent version? This is what v0.92.8 does for me when I click the Live TV button and no tuners are available:

Hi I have a Plextor ConvertX TV402U and although it gives me the dialogue box it just jumps to the main menu when I select "Watch:Currently recording Programme"! I know it should be possible to do as Intervideo WinDVR 5 can display while it is recording, am I doing something wrong or is it a setting that must be enabled? Thanks in advance for a great product.

Its not possible to watch an avi file while it's still recording. Important playback information is saved at the end of the recording, and until that info is saved, its not possible to play the file.

Thanks for your response and although I understand what you are saying, is it not possible to watch what is being recorded but not what has been recorded. As I said the WinDVR allows you to watch what is being recorded as it is recorded. I am not looking to time shift and watch the beginning of the program before the end has finished recording. The reason I ask is when recording you cannot see what is being recorded, the main reason for asking this is I have noticed that the Plextor ConvertX is very temperamental and has started corrupting the colour information making the picture Mono with alternating red and green stripes. This fault is easily resolved if the S-Video cable is disconnected and reconnected. I believe it is not a hardware error but a sync error as it makes no difference where the connection is broken either at the ConvertX or the Source device. Your dedication to this project is appreciated but understand if other issues take priority.

Unfortunately no, this is not possible. This is partly because I implemented GB-PVR in way that recordings take place in a separate recording service which is always running in the background. The only way the front end process (gbpvr.exe) can view a recording, is by playing a file. It has no other way to access the video/audio of this recording.

Sorry - your only alternatives are change the quality profiles to record MPEG2, or buy extra tuners so you always have one spare.
