So I recorded the dramatic Champions League football final last night for posterity, but it over-ran its scheduled time (went to extra time + penalties).

Now I was sat watching the game (not through gb-pvr), and had no way (that I knew of) of extending the finish time of the recording.

It would be great if there was a way of manually tweaking the upper bound to later on (effectively over-riding what the EPG schedule offers) both prior to, and during recording.

Any thoughts? It would mainly be useful for sports, I imagine...

What you can do is to schedule the program that was supposed to run after the football game to record. It will give you two files, but that's something you might be able to live with. There are a number of tools out there that can merge the two files afterwards if you need to.

Oh, and if you want to do this prior to the recording has started, you can choose "record" instead of "quick record", and then you can set post padding to whatever you want.

Both good suggestions, thanks. I pondered splicing two recordings together, as you suggest in your first reply, but thought it might be a bit of hassle.

Being able to dynamically change the end recording time whilst the recording is in progress would still be my preferred option.
