I'm having some problems with the manual recordings, hopefully someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong, if anything. I've been messing with this for a week or so, came by here to post a message like this one, and saw there was a new version of NPVR which had changes related to the manual recording, so I installed the new version, but still have the same problems.

Okay, the cable company has been messing around with the location of the clear QAM channels, so I occasionally get a blank file when they've moved one. I had the idea that I could record a short bit from each channel every day, then have a script run after the EPG update to look for a zero size file in the manual recordings. So, I've tried to set up a manual recording for each channel. The settings used are "Daily" for the recording type, the name to what channel it is ("ABC", "CBS"), the date "Today", the start time and end time the same (spaced at 10 minute intervals), with pre-padding of 1 minute, no post-padding, keep one recording, no advance rules. I'm trying to keep these files from taking up too much space for this simple process, so given that manual recordings can only be set on a 10 minute boundary, this seems the best way.

With these settings, the program puts an entry in the "pending" list for each channel, each day over the next week. And it records all the channels as wished for on the day I set it up. But when I look at the "pending" list later on, all the future recordings have disappeared. Now, they are all listed on the "reoccurring recordings" page, with the date I set them up, but if I try to update them, I get an error "index was outside the bounds of the array", and I can't make any changes, or even see what the settings are. I don't get an error if I try to update a reoccurring recording that is made from the TVGuide.

So, any thoughts? I don't know why my "pending" recordings should disappear like that.

And if it will help any, here is the contents of the "Details" box on the unhandled exception:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Any thoughts at all on this? Am I doing something wrong, or is it not working as it is supposed to?

Thanks

No problem, I just wanted to be sure my problem hadn't been missed.

Just checking in, wasn't sure when you were away, and when back.

Thanks.

Are you using the default skin?

I don't usually mess with things like skins, so I assume I am. Yes, I just checked, and it says "Default" on the selected skin setting.

And just to make sure here, I am more concerned with getting the manual recordings to remain on the list and not disappear than I am about the unhandled exception I get when trying to edit them (I say this because I can see the skin question relating to that exception, but not so much the manual recordings disappearing from the list).

Thanks.

Are they still listed on the Recurring screen when they're no longer in pending?

Let's go with an example. It's 4pm on 11/6, and I create a manual recording for 5pm, and set the frequency for daily. After I finish, it is listed on the Recurring screen with the date of 11/6 at 5pm. On the Pending screen, there are entries for 11/6, 11/7, 11/8, 11/9 etc for 5pm. At 5pm, my recording is done. Later on that day or the next (I update my EPG data at 7pm each night, so I'm guessing that the problem happens after the update), the recording is still listed on the Recurring screen with the same date of 11/6 at 5pm, but all the Pending recordings have disappeared.

Okay, I just ran another test. I created the manual recording, it was on the Recurring screen, and multiple listings on the pending screen, just as stated above. After the recording time was done, it was still listed on the recurring screen, and all the following listings were still on the Pending list. I then went into the settings, and manually did an EPG update (fyi I just run the mc2xml program to get the data). After the update finishes, I looked, and while the recurring screen still listed it, the Pending items were all gone.
