Just wondering if anyone could share what processes you are using to process recorded shows and to remove commercials using PostProcessing.bat on a Windows 7 x64 system.

Please share....

Thanks!

I read that.

The issue is I haven't been able to get VideoReDo to run correctly from my PostProcessing.bat (even after changing the NPVR service to logon using my administrator credentials). I was wondering if anyone else on Windows 7 x64 systems was able to get VideoRedo working when called from PostProcessing.bat. Or, what other processes they are using to remove commercials. My process is to use comskip and then VideoReDo in my PostProcessing.bat. Since I can't get VideoReDo to work automatically I was wondering what other tools people are using to remove commercials that WORK.

Thanks.

I think the majority of people leave the commercials in place and just let the app skip them during playback. Comskip doesnt seem to do a good enough job to rely on it getting the commercials right, so at least you then have the option of skipping back and watching incorrectly marked regions.

Mye experience with all comskip-type apps I'v tried is that none of them are reliable. Best results I'v ever got is with tuned Comskip, but it needs different tuning for different channels, and I never got around to automate that, so I just learned how long the commercials is on different cannels and skip them manually.

I see.

My end goal was to record the TV show, remove commercials and put it back together, rename the file to TV Show.S01E03.ts and then move that file to a folder and then run my Moviejukebox.bat file for my Popcorn Hours so that I can view the TV show in a nice GUI through the MovieJukebox on the PCH. I like the way the Aeon skin looks on the Popcorn Hour. Seems nicer than what is on NPVR.

There is nothing to stop you trying to achieve that, but I've not seen comskip be reliable enough that I'd have it automatically delete sections of my recordings, so even if you get past the VideoReDo problem you're having, you may not get the results you're hoping for.

There must be a way to get it reliably working. There are people uploading new high def rips of tv shows within an hour after a new episode airs and it is already converted to mkv and perfectly cut with no commercials. I don't think these uploaders are processing these captures manually. Pretty sure they have some kind of automated scripting process happening which records it, cuts out the commercials, reencodes to mkv, and then uploads.......

This is what I would like to accomplish (without the upload part).

At one point I was cutting commercials manually with videoredo. It is a very quick process once you get a feel of the direction keys.
Chopping commercials from a 1 hour recording is probably less than a minute when you're used to it. Batch them all up for later processing and that's it.
I certainly wouldn't trust my recordings to automatic editing.

There's no conversion after removing sections; the video is simply resaved in the same format it was already in. Placing it into an mkv container is therefore very fast as no transcoding is done.
