Remote Control Support

Hi all ... i did a search for literally MythTV Alternative for Windows ... and here i am.

So let me describe what i am trying to do and where i am at....

I have a spare PC running WinXP SP3. I have a Hauppage PVR 150 installed.
I had problems with GB-PVR (.net errors) so I uninstalled and loaded the latest NPVR Beta.
I can successfully access a remote PC share
i can successfully browse the remote share using mouse or keyboard ... and I can successfully play the remote XVIDs.
Second step for me is the recording portion... First step is to stream these xvids from the other PC.
WinXP drivers for the hauppage are loaded, I have my IR "button" installed ... but I can't use the hauppage remote to control the interface.

is my expectation wrong or my setup. I know under GB-PVR I added the Hauppage as a device... but in NPVR ... the add device button is greyed out. But I suspect this is set up for capturing and not remote control....

So what can I do to resolve this? :confused:

You need to add an [nPVR] section to the irremote.ini file - do a search for irremote.ini in this forum and you'll get loads of examples to cut n paste straight in.

Here's one. I'm not near my pvr box to confirm the entry is anything like mine, but I'm sure it'll work fine.

ok so i've read some posts. i understand ini files ... now what exactly do i need to do with it? i have tested the remote and the receiver "button" with win TV and all that is cool....

so do i just need to create [NPVR] section? what do i put in it that will be comptible with the hauppage remote.

i read some post about duplicating some sections and just changing the section header to NPVR

ok so maybe i don't understand ini files. !

i opened the file .. and under the section Applications ... at the bottom of the list I added nPVR= Then at the bottom of all the various sections for the various applications i added (in the same order as the placement of nPVR=

the [nPVR] section linked earlier in this thread... saved the file launched NextPVR and on the main menu no apparent control....can't scroll left or right. i missed something...

I've installled the patches against the latest release, have installed Win TV 7 and the analog device show ups.. I can connect to my remote share and watch items launching them with the keybrd... but not the remote. I've downloaded some of the irremote.ini files posted, I've duplicated sections under NPVR, i've got the clean NPVR section to add to the default irremote. I'm missing something simple here...

Is there some sort of Win TV file not running in the background or something? am I missing a reference to the NPVR section in the irremote file? Does WinTV need to be running in the background?

can you zip up the .ini and post it? At least that would eliminate any problems with that?
