Hi,

I'm upgrading to NPVR at the moment, and it seems that the first recording from one of my tuner cards fails most of the time. "First" recording means the first recording after starting the computer. If I then restart the recording afterwards, it records just fine. The capture card is a re-labelled KNC1 DVB-C with BDA drivers.

With the same results, I already tried different drivers in different versions, including the original ones from "Satelco" and the vanilla drivers directly from KNC1 with modified .inf files to match my device model. I also tried to change the setting "KeepDigitalGraphsContructed", but the results were the same.

I'm also not sure if the same happened in GBPVR/PVRX2, maybe because there the second chance recording kicked in as the recording file not grows, and I just did not recognize the failing recordings.

I've attached the NRecord logfile showing the problem as described: Started a recording (no file is written to disc), cancelled the recording, started the recording again (records fine).

It sounds like your device is slow to initialise to something. Hard to tell from the log.

I've made a change for the next release so that if it finds a [DATA]\Scripts\Wakeup.bat file, it'll run it when returning from standby, before attempting to schedule any recordings. This will give people a chance to add a delay, or to use devcon.exe to restart the device etc.

Hi,

I already tried to run devcon to restart the device when returning from standy and after boot via a scheduled task, but it didn't help, too. The wakeup batch file you talked about, will it execute right before a recoding is about to start, or just after the computer returns from standby? And is there maybe a chance the second chance recording will make it's way back to npvr?

I'll run after resuming from standby, but on the main recording service thread, so will have always completed before any new recordings or live tv sessions have started.

I'll try, but this it would be a bigger chunk of work.

Would be great 'cause I also have recordings failing from time to time for no apparent reason, message is "recording service not running at..." but often other recordings is recorded perfectly ok at the same time. No messages in the log, nothing in windows event log.

I'm pretty sure it wouldnt help that type of error. Post the logs showing that error occurring and I'll take a look.

Me too. The next time it happens, I'll post a log file also.
