I'm using the avermedia M150 and when I either look for a listing in tv guide and select a show to watch live tv, or go directly to the live tv button, it's between 8-10 seconds before it actually starts. Is this normal in the software or is it my capture card's fault? I couldn't see anything until I installed a software MPEG2 decoder (stinky MPEG2 codec). I thought this card has an mpeg2 decoder, or is that handled by my video card? (running a geforce 2 MX200). Even that isn't a big deal since I"m probably going to mostly be using it to watch pre-recorded shows rather than watching live tv, but here's another question. How do I get back to the main menu when I'm either watching live TV or a pre-recorded show? and can I fast forward a recorded show somehow? I'm using a wireless keyboard until I find a remote I like, so if someone can just tell me what keyboard command works I'd appreciate it.

You can try to enable the "Use SBE for live TV if available" under the Config Program - Misc Tab. There are alot of things that must happen before a picture is displayed for live TV and some could be your card. The SBE cuts out some of the steps and tries to stream the video directly from the card/drivers.

The AverMedia M150 has an Mpeg2 encoder not a decoder so yuo will need to use your video card for the output.

From the keyboard use Esc or Home. Here is the link for the rest of the sortcut keys:http://www.gbpvr.com/QuickStart/shortcuts.htm
Fast forward and rewind are available for prerecorded shows, see the shortcuts link.

thanks for the tips.. I did try the keyboard shortcuts, but it seems like I have to highlight the GBPVR program (not the live tv window) in order for commands to work? playback of recorded shows seems to work with commands, not live tv. any idea how to fix this?

You will only be able to pause and resume live TV, Fast Forward and Rewind do not work with live TV at this time, Sub is working on it.

I do understand why you have to select the program for the commands to work, but I do not understand why you have two windows. The live TV should be in the same window as GB-PVR ?!? That has been my experience. Maybe Sub will have some ideas on this.

Not really seperate windows, but I can see the GBPVR program as one program in the taskbar, and then Active window (live tv) as a seperate program running, and with my cursor I can highlight one or the other, but by default it of course highlights the live tv window making it impossible to navigate back without either clicking off screen (if it's in window mode) or by clicking the start menu button on my keyboard if it's maximized. I want to be sure that if I get a remote that it's not going to be impossible to navigate.

I suspect your mpeg decoder isnt compatible with your renderer. This is usually because your using the Cyberlink mpeg decoder with VMR9. These aren't compatible with each other. Try selecting a different MPEG decoder on the "playback" tab of the config app.
