I'm now on version 1.5.36 but this issue has been there (for me) on the two previous releases too.

All NZ freeview channels use HE-AAC stereo, on the last version of NPVR I used the "DivX AAC Decoder", for this version I need to use "ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD". (These are the only ones which work).

One channel, (TV3) also transmits an AC3 audio stream, but as soon as I enable an AC3 decoder, (AC3Filter is the only one which works), I can no longer hear any of the HE-AAC audio from TV3 and all the other channels.

I've got AC3Filter set to "Prefer other decoder" and "Use AC3Filter for" only has AC3 ticked.

When I have two decoders enabled, if I select the audio stream for AAC, NPVR locks up. If I start playing a channel or recording with just AAC, I get no audio.

I've only ever used the Monogram and ArcSoft decoders for HE-AAC. I dont know anything about the DivX decoder. You could see if the attached patch makes it work though.

I checked here, and I'm definitely still getting HE-AAC audio even with AC3 decoders enabled. With the attached patch installed, reproduce the problem, and post the npvr.log and I'll take a look.

To install the patch, do I need to do anything more than replace the existing Unmanaged.dll with the new one and restart npvr?

The log covers the following:
Only audio decoder enabled was ArcSoft for HE-AAC, all others disabled.
Installed patch. From TV Guide page, watched TV3. Changed to AC3 audio track, heard nothing, changed back to HE-AAC audio track, audio working again.
Enabled AC3Filter for AC3 audio. Stopped playback and started again, no audio.
Selected the AC3 audio stream, audio working, selected HE-AAC track again, no audio when there should be. Stopped playback and saved log.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I dont have AC3Filter installed, but I tried the same test with ffdshow for my AC3 decoder and ArcSoft for HE-AAC, and it was fine with those decoders.

With ffdshow set for AC3, it doesn't work, but it also doesn't kill the HE-AAC audio, so I'll try to get ffdshow working.
When I am trying to use it, I don't get an ffdshow tray icon, which I do when it is in use by Media Player Classic.
I'm guessing that there are lots of versions of ffdshow out there, which one is yours, and where did you download it from?

I'v never had any luck with ffdshow, and there's planty of decoders that does the same job equal or better, so why not get rid of ffdshow?

Did you include npvr.exe in your ffdshow whitelist?
