I have installed NPVR and initially had problems with error message on recording or live TV.

Uninstalled and re-installed NPVR and now it opens with a plain black screen - no menu items. I have obviously missed or done something silly but can anyone tell me what?

Device status from tray shows no text but does have a green light top left - is this normal?

Hoping for your help.

If you right, view the Settings->General. What is 'UI Mode' set to? It should be 'PVR' if you want to see the menus etc.

Thank you Sub - that was simple.

I am now back to the original error as below.

I do not understand it but hopefully you do.

Brian

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

This seems to be a firewall issue, try turning the firewall off.

I dont remember the exact details, but I remember seeing someone with this error in the past. Do you maybe have an IP6 network instead of IP4, or maybe both buts defaulting to IP6?

Now you have lost me - fairly certain IP4 network.

PVRx2 still working if that is any guide.

I remember something about a "Hosts.dat" file that had to be deleted, but I'm not sure where to locate it. Try searching under Windows (and make sure to search system- and hidden files too).

The file you're searching is within "Windows\System32\drivers\etc" and is called "hosts" (without extension). You can edit it with any editor, preferrable "notepad.exe" from windows itself.
If you find here an entry like "::1 localhost" (IPv6) you should disable it. Make sure, that a line "127.0.0.1 localhost" (IPv4) is available.
You like nPVR? Then please help pay the bills, and keep the project alive!
