I think it probably was the xml file. I edited it with editpad, ran the import, and NPVR said 'imported 88 recordings'

HOWEVER

the recordings don't show up in NPVR, even after a restart. I expect I am missing something obvious, but what??

zipped xml file attached

One thing that may be a factor here. When it's importing old style GBPVR recordings, it expects the filename to have "recording-dump" in the filename, like those files produced by GBPVR. ie, recording-dump.xml, otherwise it needs slightly different info in the file.

Worked out that the NPVR XML file was in slightly different format to the one produced by GBPVR. It had an <Event> statement for each recording which the the GBPVR file didn't seem to have. Put in an event statement and got them all imported but not grouped properly like they should be. Something to do with the Event statement I think. And still some error messages in the log , sample below.
I am sure I can work this out but would like to start again with a clean databae. Question: Can I just delete npvr.db3 from the data diorectory, then re-import from one of the recording-backup.xml files to get back to where I was before?

sample error message
2010-12-28 15:52:36.478 [ERROR][1] xml:
<Event><title>Agatha Christie's Poirot</title><subtitle>Case of the Missing Will</subtitle><description>Detective drama series. Poirot has to avoid jumping to conclusions when misogynist Andrew Marsh is murdered before he can change his will.</description><uid></uid></Event>
2010-12-28 15:52:36.478 [ERROR][1] Unexpected error parsing EPGEvent xml: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at NUtility.EPGEvent.Parse(String xml)
Don't know what it means. Think it must be the null statement "<uid></uid>" Am I right?

Did you see my comment above about the file name.

NPVR can import both NPVR and GBPVR style recording lists, but it'll only do the GBPVR style if the filename is recording-dump.xml. Everything else is treated as NPVR style.

If you delete your npvr.db3 file and restart the application it'll create a new database. You'd then need to setup you channels etc, then can import your recordings.
