I recently built a new system running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I downloaded nPVR and had it running (whilst still in process of figuring out all the keyboard commands Rolleyes) but am now getting:

Some kind of disk I/O error occured
disk I/O error.

everytime I go to live tv or when I go into settings and click on devices. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling my Hauppage 2250 and nPVR, even upgraded to 1.5.36 to no avail. Sad I keep getting the same error and am unable to view live tv now.

Any help would be appreciated. (Also, I looked for the thread on what to do when posting but can't find it on here now so don't know how to upload my logs if you need to look at them.)

Oh yes, WinTV7 has no problems running, it just doesn't have the same clarity of pic that nPVR does.

You should get much more precise in your setup, bnz. Explain you're configuration and zip and attach your logfiles from the public npvr folder.

Btw., what does s.m.a.r.t. say about your harddisk (you could check this for example with hdd sentinel, crystal disc info etc)?

I'd say either you database has become corrupt for some unknown reason, or your system has I/O problems. If the former, then you'll probably need to delete your npvr.db3 file, and run the app to recreate it, then setup your channels again.

You are missing the direct x installation.

The harddisk is connected with the marvell 9128 S-ATA III chip?
Have you already installed the latest gagabyte driver (Marvell Console Driver (SATA3) 1.0.0.1027 2009.11.10) for this one?

Forget the above one. I have just read in different forums, that the genuine gigabyte drivers for this controller are crap.
You should try instead the msi ones: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=driver...=11190&i=0

Okay, the msi marvell driver is installed (had previously downloaded the latest gigabyte upon installation) and I am now at 1.0.0.1200. I also deleted the npvr.db3 file, restarted the program and am getting the same I/O error message.

This is getting frustrating as I had NPVR up and running for two weeks with no probs once I got it configured right. Like I said, WinTV 7 runs with no problems. What is different about it and NPVR with the 2250 card? Or am I thinking wrong about this?

Should I try an install of GB-PVR?

zip and attach your npvr.db3 file and I'll check if its valid.

You're the only person I've ever seen with this specific error, so its not really a problem I'm familiar with.

Yeah, I figured as much. I am unable to upload the db3 file as it is too big even zipped (8,351 KB). I deleted it again and restarted NPVR and it recreated it with a size of 75,686 KB.

I went ahead and installed GB-PVR and it runs with no errors, except that the sound doesn't play right (all broken up) which is why I went with NPVR in the first place. GB-PVR works great on my Win XP machine, never had any probs with it on it.
