And you clicked the "Show processes from all users button" ? You should see as a minimum two MVP instances.

I tried this, and after stopping the Recording service, I double checked that all processes from all users were not running. The new database was created, and the channels were scanned successfully on one tuner. But after setting up the channels, the update epg still fails, though the setup reads the xml file to give me mapping choices.

The TV Guide in NPVR is completely blank.

If you temporarily remove your UpdateEPG.bat file, does it behave any differently? Your logs show that as the very last thing happening.

That's it! UpdateEPG.bat had a PAUSE command in it for debugging, that I had forgotten to comment out or remove. It was hanging the whole process.
