I once had a client who was getting garbled output from his printer, and only on the one printer attached to his machine - he could print to other printers on the network just fine. everything else on the pc was fine - no crashes or other weirdness. so naturally I spent quite some time updating/uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, replaced the printer cable, finally had him buy a new printer, and the problem kept coming back. finally while messing with the drivers on the new printer, I got a weird error from the installer that indicated data corruption, so I ran memtest86+. the first few simple tests completed no problem, then finally one of the walking-bit tests turned up the errors.

Exactly. It just might be a case of timing related memory error, or spesific patterns failing.

As I said:

"this computer" is other pc, not the target computer.

'twas worth a try. I'm not sure what else to suggest, other than to keep looking for other drivers. Stuff like this is why it's always best to use Hauppauge devices - sub has those devices in his box-o-goodies, and has contacts at Hauppauge.

Problem is, kind of, solved. I swapped tuners, Winfast from here to problem pc and A-link from there to this pc. Now I have both Npvr's working. Odd.

I'v seen other examples of this sevral times over many years, some plug-in cards is simply not compatible with all motherboards.

Having same problem, will get the 'Recording service unavailable' in Live TV then NPVR will crash soon after. Previous version worked fine, just started when I upgraded to 1.5.36. Running on Windows 7 with a Hauppauge 1600 and a Hauppage 150. Anyone else having this issue?

There is a patch in the sticky thread to address this problem with analog hardware encoder devices (like your HVR1600 and PVR150)

Thanks for the reply. I actually found out that it was the PVR150 causing my problem. I had also upgraded my memory right after I upgraded to 1.5.36. Apparently the 150 can't handle over 4gb. Guess it's time to upgrade!
