Against my wishes, my home is filling up with feminine iFruit technology. My wife has requested that I put iTunes on my brand new, perfectly working GBPVR machine so she can listen to her Abba and Lady Gaga tunes through the living room system (when I am not home).

Does iTunes behave itself on an HTPC? Seems like every time I go near my wife's machine iTunes is throwing up boxes begging to be updated or something else.

I hate iTunes but have it installed on my main system that has both GBPVR and NPVR on it (no longer use GBPVR). I've had iTunes for almost a year and never knew it was there except for the occasional bug to update Quicktime. I know the earlier versions had some conflicts with W7 x64 but that's been fixed.

There are other options that I tried before going with iTunes but none I really thought were as compatible with my iPod. Plus, iTunes is free.

You might want to give musicbrainz picard software a try before importing into itunes, it helps get all the correct album art and meta data into your music files. It saves you from trying to do it within itunes.....

Checkout Music Bridge. It's on my list of things to-do. I have an enormous iTunes (music) Library and I want to get it, along with the cover art and song info that I've meticulously entered, to something usable on the media center. Music Bridge claims to help you do this by syncing your iTunes and Media Center libraries.

I took a look at music bridge but it addled my brain, I was always convinced that with one wrong click I would screw my database. I might go back and have a look now that I'm more i-confident

This thread inspired me to look at Music Bridge sooner rather than later. Short answer: does what it says it does, but you need iTunes installed with an existing library. It'll then parse iTunes data and *replace* your WMP library with it. It also references the media in your iTunes library so it isn't duplicating all of your files. It does an amazingly good job at all of this too including star ratings, album artwork, everything.

You could also do the exact opposite - send a MWP library to iTunes and replace that iTunes database. There doesn't see to be a way to merge it.

Now, if the Music plug-in in NPVR could read the MWP Library/Playlists, it'd be slick.
