IR Server Suite Not Working With NPVR

IR Server Suite - Test Build 1.4.2.4068

I have the IR commands set properly and they work using the test option in Translator so I know the program is not at fault.

When trying to change channels using my keyboard in NPVR, nothing happens.

• NPVR Recording Service is allowed to interact with the desktop (default now I believe).
  
• Channel Changer set to C:\Program Files (x86)\IR Server Suite\IRBlast.exe
  
• Parameters set to -host localhost -channel {channel} -delay 350
  

So I am not sure what is going on. NPVR acts like it is not doing anything with IR Server Suite.

I kept meaning to post about this but got distracted by other things! I upgraded to build 1.4.2.4068 about a week ago. Basically it just stopped blasting in both GB-PVR & NPVR - something wrong most definitely, downgraded to 1.4.2.3496 and blasting away merrily again. Also meant to enquire about this over on IRSS thread on MP forum, haven't got round to that either

Have you access to older build than 1.4.2.4068? If so try it? If not am sure someone on forum can get it to you.

logs should say whether it tried to run it or not...
try it from cmd line in npvr appdata dir while watching livetv to see if it's running properly outside npvr first..
then post logs and it should tell something..
maybe just try older irblast.exe with new program?
hopefully just some syntax change to localhost or something..try 127.0.0.1

i did make a blaster helper to customize the blast strings a little better, but it uses irblast.exe to do the work..[so am curious if syntax change]

Something is wrong with the 1.4.2.4068 version.

Yes luckily I have IR Server Suite (IRSS) 1.4.2.3496 saved. I cannot attach the 4.51 MB .zip file for it here as it exceeds this forum's attachment size limit. I created a thread over on the MediaPortal forum about the issue with 1.4.2.4068 not working and attached 1.4.2.3496 to it so hopefully it can be downloaded there...

To easily setup IRSS 1.4.2.3496...

1) Open the installer. During the setup, leave the default stuff checked but also check the boxes in front of...

- Under Tools, "Keyboard Input Relay".

- Under CommandLine Tools, "IR Blast" and "Hauppauge PVR Tuner".

2) After the installer finishes, the configuration for IR Server will appear. I have a Microsoft MCE device so I clicked on the CONFIGURE button for it. On the KEYBOARD tab, check the box in front of "Enable keyboard input". Click OK then OK again. The IR Server service will restart.

3) Now go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > IR SERVER SUITE > TRANSLATOR to open Translator.

- Check the box in front of "Start Translator with Windows".

- On the IR Commands tab, learn your STB codes for buttons 0-9.

- Click OK.

4) Open NPVR and go to SETTINGS.

- Open DEVICES > YOUR CARD

- Set the Executable to C:\Program Files (x86)\IR Server Suite\IRBlast.exe

- Set the Arguments to -host localhost -channel {channel} -delay 350

That's it. IRSS 1.4.2.3496 works just fine.

aha..latest ver needs dotnet 3.5 minimum..could that be it?
looks to be completely reworked, maybe a stuffup in the cleanup of code..[dirs changed etc.]

Already got .NET 3.5 on my Windows 7 64-bit. I think something got messed up on their end.

I am trying to migrate to IR Server from HIP but I when I test the blaster after I have programmed the remote keys in the translator and I test the keys I see the blaster led light up but my STP (Directv) doesn't acknowledge any commands being sent. It doesn't matter which key. I know it isn't the hardware or the remote since all hardware and remotes work with HIP. It is as if irblast sends corrupted data. Any ideas anyone?

I have used 3158 for ages in NPVR and it has worked great (or any of the later 3xxx betas). As BTJustice says the blasting was broken in later (4xxx) versions. You should not lose any function.

Not that it is any of my business but why are you migrating from HIP? Any problems with it?

I wanted to be able to configure a different setup for NPVR and just disable that configuration in case I couldn't get NPVR to work as I liked instead of having to reconfigure HIP for GBPVR again. Plus from comments by pBS it seemed to be better. I have HIP setup to work with NPVR now after all. I still don't like not having been able to get IRSS to work. I used tried 3496 and 3158 and neither worked for blasting.
