no, the names don't have to match. however, at least in my case, I found that some of the names in the XMLTV file had changed slightly so that the mappings were no longer valid. my current epg source pre-pends a channel number to the channel name (which has nothing to do with the channel number within NPVR), and it was that channel number that changed. the channel numbers you assign to the channels in NPVR are not relevant here - they're only for your reference when using the program.
the first thing to do in any case, is to go into the channels screen in Settings and re-map your channels, even if the mappings appear to be ok - something may have channged that is non-obvious. then hit the Update EPG button and see if your listings reload.
