Really the only thing which bugs me with gbpvr is this (9s live TV startup), and doesn't sound much improved in npvr.. Channel changes are fine... sorry for the off-topic!

I should qualify the livetv startup that I reported as 14s is truly startup after a hibernate. It is not much more than a channel change if a exit and restart. I am sure you could cut down this time with an SSD which pretty much takes this out of sub's control.

The time required to start live tv has never bothered me. I never even give it a second thought. I'm more interested in the time to change channels once tv is already started.

The time it takes to start has very little to do with GBPVR/NPVR though. Its the time directshow requires to build the graphs, start the graphs, and submit the first tuning request. There is a lot of variation in this time from device to device, and really comes down to how fast the device starts and how long it takes to tune. Some devices can easily start live tv in 3 seconds or so, up to as high as 15 seconds (some devices download firmware from the drivers when the graph starts, and sorts of other reasons to explain why it takes so long). The only way to avoid this start up time is by leaving the graph's constructed after first use, but there are downsides to doing this, so not worth the effort.

I've gotten used to the longer time for my HDPVR in NPVR, it was 2 seconds start-up with GB-PVR and is 3x longer in NPVR. If I'm going to watch an hour long TV program live, 7 seconds is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Having to watch the commercials because it is live is far, far worse. Big Grin

Actually, I should say, it doesn't bug me so much, either... it bugs my wife more... Smile At the end of the evening before we head off to bed, we do some mindless live TV channel surfing. That live TV delay is practically the only thing she has to complain about.... everything else is perfect.

Edit: solved, channel changes ~ 2s, startup the same... thanks!

I made a capture earlier this week showing the ways to changing channel on the NMT
and thought I'd share. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tXiOhDCFXs I have zero reason to complain with these change speeds.

It is an HD capture, so if your PC can handle the 1080 playback full screen this is a good representation of what NPVR on the NMT looks like for those that haven't seen it. My responses lag a bit because of capture. There is some analog, some 1080i and the Recording is h264/ac3 5:1 You also get to see some cropping and zooming in action and hotkeying to recordings, I avoid bothering with the main menu.

For the Recording GBPVR users probably will notice how accurate the new improved seeking in NPVR is.
