nPVR - TV Guide - watch live TV or Record show starts IRRemote installation

I just upgraded to the new NPVR version. I had been monitoring the operation of NPVR and wasn't in a position to take the time to risk an upgrade from PVRX2 since it was working so well. I had used NPVR in test situations without incident.

My installation and upgrade went well for the most part. Almost everything is working fine, even Schedules Direct EPG and all my codecs. There is one small glitch. Every time I go to TV Guide to watch a program or Record a program, IRRemote tries to install. The program screen to watch a show or record it comes up behind it, so it does work. I just get a window asking me to proceed with IRRemote installation. If I do, it overwrites the irremote ini file. If I cancel, it goes back the way it was. The selection must be done by mouse. My system uses only the remote during normal operation, so this isn't something my wife wants to deal with.

What is happening to cause this? How can I fix it?

Maybe check the Windows Event Viewer to see why this installer is running.

NPVR doesnt know anything about IRRemote, so I doubt this is being directly caused by NPVR.

I found the problem. It is calling the irremote setup executable from the recording device "device setup" channel changer executable. I can change to other executables but cannot delete it or erase it so that nothing is called. So, basically, I can call any executable in the computer when I watch live TV or record shows but I can't erase it so that nothing happens. Where is the setting saved? Can it be edited at that location?

Delete the channels and recreate them.

I tried deleting the channels and recreating them. It didn't work. I still could not alter the text that came in the channel changer executable. It remained at whatever last command was entered. I was able to make everything appear to work fine by selecting clip.exe in the system32 folder. It doesn't do anything except copy command line information to the clipboard, so it doesn't interfere with the normal operation and doesn't show up on the screen demanding user input.

Its something I intend to change, but for now it's storing a copy of the channel changer info in the channels when it creates them, so you need to have the channel changer settings need to be correct at the time you create the channels.
