Hi there sub,

Thanks for answering my previous support question.

Here's a feature request then : extend support for MCE remote. Smile

Most of the buttons already work (ie, up/down/left/right, numbers). It would be great if support can be extended to cover the rest of the buttons:
- MS Green button
- Info button
- Recorded TV/Live/Guide/DVD menu buttons

Just wishing Smile

I only have a MCE2004 remote, so MCE support is geared to that specific flavour of remote.

The Recorded TV/Live/Guide/DVD menu buttons are shared with red/green/blue/yellow on the MCE2004 remote (I dont think it shows the colors on 2005 remote). GB-PVR can only do one thing with those buttons, so I choose to go with the colours, since GB-PVR has some important features 'hooked' onto the colour keys, wheras it can live without the shortcut buttons.

If someone wants to send a me a MCE2005 remote, I'll take a look and improved support for it.

Smile I appreciate the fact that there are a couple of MCE remotes out there...

but if not the 4 'colour' buttons, how about just the "Big Green" button and the "info" button. Both buttons should be common in all MCE remote.

Simply being able to bring up the OSD during live TV/playback using the Info button alone would be HUGE.

The Big Green button can be used to maximise/minimise
the frontend GUI (as a suggestion).

I might be able to do something with Info, but I remember in the past that I could get notification that the user had press the big greed windows key. Its treated differently from the other buttons.

I have been able to get almost full functionality out of the MCE 2005 remote. Attached is my setup. Included is the MCE 2005 Girder plugin. Also included are my Dish 301 STB numbers and "SELECT" key IR captures. You should be able to use it as is, except for the STB IR files.

From the desktop, pressing the green button (TGB) will start GBPVR. Once running pressing the "Clear" key will shutdown GBpvr.

The "Recorded TV", "Live TV" and "DVD Menu" will simply take you out of whatever module you are in and put you into those modules. Since there are no global shortcut keys that I can find, this is done by briefly bringing you to the home screen and then to the module in question. This happens so rapidly that it is almost not noticeable.

The "Guide" button will take you to the regular guide, unless you are in the DVD or Live TV modules, where it shows the mini guide.

The "More" key will show the OSD while in live TV or in recording playback mode.

"Mute" will mute the sound at the O/S level, since GBPvr seems not to have a Mute function.

The "Enter" key will recall the last channel.

All other keys in the remote will carry out their customary functions (FF,Rew,Pause, etc)

Please note that the "Recorded TV", "Live TV" and "DVD Menu" depend on those functions being in the main menu as placed by the default install. In my case, I don't use the "FM Radio" option, so that is disabled in setup and it does not show in my menu. So "Exit" is the 9th Option from the top, instead of 10th. If your menu is not default, then you must change the gml file to send the number of those options as placed in your menu.

Hope this helps anyone that has the MCE 2005 remote.

Cheers

2 questions if you can?

1. Which MCE driver are you using? The BZR/girder one or the M$ one?
2. What remote is GBpvr set to use?

You need the MS drivers for the O/S to even see the remote. Having SP2 or newer will enable the basic remote hardware (drivers from MS are in SP2).

After that you need to run Girder and use the girder MCE 2005 remote driver for Girder. That's the driver that actually does the work.

In GV-PVR set it up to use the MCE remote.

Hi artbatista

Is there any cost for girder? Which version of girder can be used as a minimum?

Background: At http://www.promixis.com/products.php?section=girder there seems to be 4 versions. The "lite" would be good if it were free, available & supporting remote, however they have a few question marks in the column.
