npvr has been working fine for a week, with several back-to-back recordings using both of my recorders.

Tonight, Glee stopped recording (with the titled error) at 7:58 pm just as 'V' started recording at 7:58 pm (I have 2 min buffer before and after recordings). There was only ~5 seconds of 'V' recorded.

In addition, right-clicking on the tray icon did not result in any options (show status/star npvr/restart). I had to stop then start the npvr service to start 'V' again at ~ 08:16 pm.

The 2 shows are on different channels. Other back to back recordings that worked earlier in the week were on the same channel. Logs attached.

I know you posted in that thread but did you actually try the fix in the end?

From what I have read & observed it should be the first thing XP users do when they have problem with the Recordingservice. It probably should actually be something all XP users do (it is un-doable as the old files aren't even deleted).

I applied the fix last Saturday. The problem reoccurred in exactly the same situation this week. I tried quick recording, trying to recreate the problem (used the same channels). So far, only recurring recordings of 'V' on top of 'Glee' results in the issue.

Another failed recording, same circumstances. I watched NPVR device status and the N-PVR What's New screen towards the end of the Glee recording when 'Dancing With the Stars' started up at 07:58. Nothing locked up, everything appears normal. However, the lengths of the recordings stopped growing - Dancing with the Stars stopped at 6 seconds, and Glee stopped at 1:00:04. Both showed their status as 'Recording' until about 8:04 when I stopped/started the recording service. Glee switched to Failed/Recording service not running at recording time. Dancing with the Stars started recording again. (Dancing with the Starts has the same time slot as 'V", previously mentioned in other posts).

Any suggestions?

I'll be forced to switch back to GBPVR soon.

Try setting <AllowInProcessRecording>false</AllowInProcessRecording> in the <Recording> section of config.xml.

Sub, you suggested the "false" to me on a different thread and it seems to have worked. This week everything recorded fine. Smile with no dreaded Failed messages.

I'll make the change tonight.
I still don't understand why the failed recordings only happens Tuesday nights.
I record simultaneously and back to back all of the time the rest of the week with no problems.

Hi, I had the same issues I.e. Recoding failed with 'recording service not running' message. This happened whilst trying to record when the pc was asleep. I changed the above setting to false and that seems to have fixed it but I was wondering what the downside to this settings is?

Cheers, alesupper
