Hi was wrong about the lip sync not being an issue in live TV. Just noticed that the current landscaping show on TV3 was out of sync by a small amount. Nothing like the problem with recordings, but still noticeable.

I hadn't noticed this until today, so may be result of poking around with the decoders??

Managed to swap to AC3 audio stream without NPvr crashing, sync OK.

Is this better or worse than problem A??

Did you try setting the audio renderer back to 'system default' as suggested above? Having it set to something else is a common cause of lip sync issues.

Yes it is back on default, started off there, but I changed it when I was shagging around with the ATI drivers, and found Windows had set the HDMI as default out. My graphics card has a DVI to HDMI dongle, and doesn't pass audio, so was scratching my head for a while trying to figure out where the sound had gone??

Further to the above, I set up a client and played the recordings using the same decoder setup as the server machine, no problems with lip sync. they are virtually identical machines, other than the client has a Nvidia 8600GT graphics card, and the server has an AMD 4670.

Is worth a reinstall?? Looks like the setup should be OK.

I doubt reinstalling NPVR will make any difference. Its most likely something to do with audio device, or the decoder combination, and reinstalling NPVR wont change anything about those.

I did install npvr as client on an old pc some days ago, and I find that playing back both recordings and videos works perfect (this is SD, the old grap.card cannot handle HD). However when watching live tv, after some seconds sound becomes more and more ahead of video. If I pause for some seconds and resume audio and video is in sync right after resume, but then sound goes ahead again. I'v tried watching the same show on both server and client simultanously (it is actually using multirecord then), and on the server all is in perfect sync.

Is this somehow related to timing-info? Perhaps the client don't get timing info? Or is it not used during live-tv? What logs would be interesting to look at?

Yeah, thats why I'm confused. The combination has worked for me (cyberlink + monogram) forever with GBPVR, bu not now. The only difference was the swap to Npvr..

I'll swap a few things around and see how it goes.

I think Npvr is a much nicer / refined beast, but I sense theres still a few things on your to do list Smile

No, its not to with timing.info or anything like that. NPVR/GBPVR doesnt really play any active role in low level stuff like when audio samples are played and when video frames are shown, and how they're kept in sync. This type of stuff is just down to the decoders and renderers you're using. The logs wouldnt show anything that'd give any insights into audio video sync other than the names of decoder and renderers you're using.

Well then I'm lost, I'm using exactly the same decoders at the client as on the server, actually copied the files and registered them. Only difference is that this client runs XP-SP3 and all my other computers runs W7x64.

And if I start a recording and right after start to play it on the client audio and video is perfectly in sync. So what is the big difference between playing from a file and playing from live-tv?
