Hi Smile

The ABC Australia EPG occasionally publishes the same show two or more times in the EPG. For example on tonight's EPG listing.

Adam Hill In Gordon Street Tonight 8:30 to 9:30
Adam Hill In Gordon Street Tonight 8:32 to 9:31
Adam Hill In Gordon Street Tonight 8:33 to 9:31
Adam Hill In Gordon Street Tonight 8:33 to 9:31

Because I have two tuners, GB-PVR records the first two, and will forego any other shows as a result.

Is there any way to tell GB-PVR not to try to record two shows simultaneously from the same channel?

I have tried wiping the EPG and reloading - the duplicates still appear.

I have tried NextPVR but it refuses to play its own recordings, hogs a CPU and hangs when recording from both tuners. However its EPG does ignore the duplicates - seems to pick the last entry only.

Unfortunately NextPVR was going to be my suggestion - it has much better handling of duplicate EPG entries when the broadcaster fiddles the start time. If you want to post your logs in the NPVR support forum, I'm happy to look into any problems you've got. Some XP users have had problems with recording on two tuners at the same time, and found they needed to dvbfix version of psisdecd.dll to fix a Window's problem causing this.

I dont think there is much you can do about it in GBPVR.

OK thanks for your help Smile

I installed the WMP11 runtime - required apparently for DVBFix - but the system fails WGA so I did not install WMP11. (Dell tower but replaced HDD - XP SP3, 2G RAM. Extracted the runtime from the WMP11 installer exe.)

I then installed the DVBFix from http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/genera...s-xp-6344/ without incident.

I can now record two shows simultaneously without freezing Smile

In my install, all decoders defaulted to 'disabled' - once I enabled some of them haphazardly, it started working nicely.

The TV Guide looks quite sane, so hopefully that's the end of the problem Smile

Cheers, Mike

More than that Smile

I just added a third USB tuner. That makes a total of four. (Three USB DVB (Winfast, RealTek, Gadget Geek) and one USB Analogue (Winfast) not configured for NPVR.)

When adding a few "Quick Records" to test it I was surprised to find that one tuner would record more than one show simultaneously since it was on the same frequency. I don't remember GB-PVR ever doing that. It's now recording four shows simultaneously without overloading the CPU or hard drive. The only weird thing it's doing is listing some channels three times - some twice and some just once; but it doesn't seem to care.

Well done on a very effective program!

Yeah, this multi-record feature is pretty cool.

I'm guessing its to do with this: If you've got a DVB-T device setup with channels in NPVR and you add another DVB-T device, when you try to go into the setup it'll tell you 'there is already another DVB-T device setup, would you like to copy that device?'. You should select yes, then the channels are only listed once. If you select no, then any channels scanned become separate channels (and listed as such in TV Guide). You can merge them though, in the Settings -> Channels screen, then hold down the Ctrl key and select the channels you wish to merge into one, right click and select merge.

Different device types will always create new channels, but you can merge these too. (ie, analog + DVB-T would result in duplicate channels until merged)

Aah OK. Funny thing is I think for the second and third device I just copied the first, yet it still made a few extras. In the end I had to remove a few channels from the third because it appears to have a weak RF section compared to the other two and jigsaws 1/3rd of the channels despite being on the same antenna and amplifier as the other two.

I'll get out there in a little while and merge the channels to see what happens.

I miss the search feature - takes a while to scroll 7 days in the EPG to program it Smile Patience ... Smile

PS - I don't actually watch much of the stuff I record, but it's nice to have the choice. People might think I'm a TV Junkie!

There is the SearchLite plugin http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...SearchLite for NextPVR that works really really well Wink

Aah, that worked well Smile Thanks both for your suggestion!

My only remaining query. On my copy each keystroke takes .3 to .5 seconds to register, whereas gb-pvr was instantaneous. Not a big deal as everything else works well.
