Cannont Find Channels

Ive had a tuner card for a while now and after repeated attempts on several different PVR programs I have never been able to get it working longer than a day or 2. I am currently trying to use nPVR with no avail.

Following the instructions on the getting started I think I have everything configured correctly, but when I go to Devices->Device Setup->Scan. I get no results. This is for both ATSC and QAM, I've plugged the cable into both ports on the device... just to be sure I tried all physical options.

I realize I've given you very little info, but I couldn't find anything at all that pertained to 2.03. Thank you for any help you can provide.

OS: Win 7 x64
Tuner: I think its a WinTV 1600, uses PCI (Displayed as Hauppauge WinTV 418 BDA)
Cable: Standard Florida Cable

If its not working any software, then it's likely to be a broken card, or a poor signal being supplied.

I thought that, but It works for a few days. Some programs the channels are found, but I cant change the channels... or record them (so I stopped using that program). Other times I cant find any channels. I'm 99% sure the card is infact working. Lets pretend momentarily however that its not. What are some ways to prove or disprove it?

If you do a scan, then post the npvr.log, I'll check if anything stands out.

Alright, sorry its in a .rar, the log file was too large to keep as a txt. Hope this helps.

You dont need to worry about that unless you also want to do analog with the device.

The ATSC scan shown in your logs show no sign of any signal:

This would be because either your antenna is not supplying a good signal to the card, or the card is broken.

If the card is busted, why does it still show up and the computer / npvr recognize it? Also... do all tuners suck? this is like my 3rd one and never have I had them work properly.

NPVR recognises it because the operating system tell the app it is there. It's obviously functioning enough to load up the drivers etc. I have no way to know if it's in a fully functioning state though. ie, could have one faulty component stopping it receiving a good signal.

Most people dont have these types of problem. You tuner could be fine, and you're just not feeding it a good signal - that would explain why three of them havnt worked if you've been using the same antenna connection for each of them (bad cable, or incorrect antenna type, or antenna pointing the wrong direction etc). Also double check you're using the correct connector spigot.

I tried using both, one is labeld TV and the other ATSC. I am using a basic cable package provided by a company (not using an antenna) We have something like 60 channels that come through just fine on a TV.

I tried using windows media center just to check and it said that it found an analog tuner. I am not well versed in TV, but I assume I have analog. It also found channels but from my previous time using it the recording seems to suck and doesnt allow very many options

It sounds like you're scanning for the wrong type of tv signals.

ATSC is for digital TV received via an antenna. It doesnt sound like you receive this type of TV.

QAM is for digital TV received via a cable network. It doesnt sound like you receive this type of TV.

You basic cable package is probably analog tv. If you install the Hauppauge WinTV software, you'll also be able to use the analog side of your HVR-1600 in NPVR.
