Different audio output for music?

yes - Call the batch from within NextPVR that will replace one config.xml with another via a batch and then relaunch NextPVR. Bit crap but is may do for now.

Since this is a wishlist thread, I'd like to be able to easily choose where the sound goes - to the HDMI TV or spdif to the amp. Films and particular live recordings and videos I want to watch in lovely surround via the amp. Things like the news I'd be more than happy just with the telly via HDMI.

Sub: Is there any chance to add a music renderer that can be used by the music plugin or perhaps a "settings" plugin where the renderer could be changed by use of the remote.

Its pretty niche, so probably wont modify the UI for it, but I could probably add a config.xml setting for you to specify 'music audio renderer' option.

I think I will try creating a custom task to call a batch file to swap config.xml files around and see if that works for now. Is it possible to relaunch npvr and have it automatically run a particular plugin (music)?

Sounds like a very nice addition to advanced settings available from the config.xml

A way to toggle from the remove would be better as it's not just music that i'd want to route somewhere. but if I could switch between the telly and the amp that'd solve all scenarios.

I dont really have any control over where your audio gets routed. This pretty much comes down to which audio renderer you've selected, or if you're using the default system renderer, then it can depend on how your control panel has audio configured to route. Personally I've found lipsync problematic if you use anything other than system default, so you pretty much need to change the audio rendering options in the control panel, which I cant do programmatically.

Regards, if I did try to implement some toggle button on the remote, it mean switching audio renderers, which couldnt be done without stopping playback and restarting it.

Not necessarily based on whether you add this option or not to the config.xml but a wider question. I don't believe there is a way to currently check what options may have been added to the config.xml with a new release? Would it be possible to flag these somehow in any release notes?

Sorry, but probably not. I dont maintain a list a of config.xml changes from version to version, so I dont have a list I can provide.

Also, config.xml settings are typically consider "not user serviceable" and nothing to concern yourself with, unless I explicitly mention a setting in the change log info. Usually any settings I add will also get settings in the Settings screen, which would be the preferred way the user would change them. On the rare occasions that I add a setting in config.xml that are user tweakable (like this music renderer setting), I'll note them in the change log.
