Music Box 4, the "Next" version of MusicLibrary 3 is now available for general download from the NPVR wiki

For those that have not used MusicLibrary 3 with GBPVR, MB4 is not filesystem based, it uses a database to gather information from music tags and your files. After installing you will need to go into the config screen and do a scan to read in files. For me this takes about 1000 files a minutes. Once you have scanned files spend a bit of time in MB4. It probably will seem odd and maybe slow, but once you get the hang of the navigation it can be easier on big collections. When trying it out you probably should try choices on the menu.

Many thanks to Jaggy and ACTCMS for all their help in the design and changes in MB4 and for their comments and alpha testing. Even though this is the first release and I consider it beta they helped make things a lot easier. Of course thanks to psycik for MusicLibrary a lot of it is left intact. Finally thanks to sub for the help as I learned more about skinning and plugins, I almost get it now.

For users of ML3, most of the core functionality remains but the keys have changed. As an example Enter is now the key to start random play on a selected item. The Album view also has changed into a view of compilations, albums with more than on artist. Hopefully you will like the new look & feel and some of the speed optimizations.

If you are used to the colour coding or prefer hot keys to the main menu.

Random - Alt-R Red
Artist/Album/Playlist - Alt-G Green
Jukebox (was Playlist) - Alt-Y Yellow
View - Alt-B Blue (switch Jukebox view currently List to Icon mode)

There will be refinements on the use of the Play button, unfortunately MB4 cannot tell music is paused so it is not available for selection while music is playing.

Use the Option menu to filter the view by collection and/or genre.

If you "miss" an old function let me know, I don't know all the things ML3 can do.

This looks great and I appreciate the time you've put into this.
Just a quick try on y office pc (with no tuners), each time I check the box in config and restart NPVR, it's unchecked again and I don't get the option to scan.
I'll give this a try at home tonite and play with it.

Paul is your setup fully patched? As explained on the wiki MB4 requires these updates (or newer) http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post410372

Yep, I'm up to date but it's really not fair of me to ask you to spend time so that it works on my office system as I just have that installed to play around during my free time. I'll test it out tonite or later this week at home and see how she goes.

I always appreciate your help Martin but I got lucky. I ran the install again after stopping the service, then rebooting and it seemed to have worked. Let's see what happens on my other systems at home later on. You know I'll ask if I need help.

I'm having a similar problem on my home system that I had today at work. Only, what worked today isn't working now. I have the latest patches and have .NET 4....do I need .NET 2 or doesn't 4 incorporate earlier versions.
