Music Box 4 - Version 9.1

Hi Martin,

Right, took the plunge and installed ML9. Changed to the default skin(but with the vertical menu). Unfortunately, a few glitches probably all self-created, be glad for some help.

1. The UltraID3Lib.dll seems to be installed by the Installer. So I didn't try to install that from the wiki link in Requirements. Should I have?
2. The tag-lib-sharp.dll in the wiki link was not installed by the Installer, but neither was the one I downloaded called Tag-lib-sharp.dll, just Taglib-sharp.dll. I threw that into the common dir that UltraID3Lib.dll was in. Is this correct?
3. I also added policy.2.0.taglib-sharp.dll. Do I need it?

4. Unfortunately, while I can start it, when I run it, it gives me an error (Seee attached)
5. How do I actually type something into Search, when I'm at the PC without a Remote. I clicked with the mouse, I tabbed, but I can't work it out?

K, I don't think you installed the patches to NPVR that are required. There is a link on the wiki and also on page one of this thread.

When it's setup, the Search from a PC will use the normal keyboard.

You don't need to install any DLL's they should all be in the package. I reference them because they are from other authors and they deserve the credit. Sub installs TagSharp so I don't try and use another copy.

Right you are. I thought I was fully patched as the date of the post was 9 May and the latest patch update was 17 May. NPVR was up to date, but not Utility.dll. That fixed that. Cheers.

Oh. I was a bit confused with requirements meaning they were 100% necessary, I thought maybe they were specifically NOT included for copyright issues.

Actually it wasn't very clear on the wiki about the patch (I have edited it a tad to hopefully make it clearer) & it isn't linked in your first message of this thread you only have a link to the wiki, your link is in post 4.

This also wasn't very clear on the wiki (I personally installed TagSharp in my program\plugin\common directory after reading the wiki not realising it was installed by sub) so I also took the liberty of rewording this slightly on the wiki.

I am currently working on a BRVE+ skin for it but I'm having a few problems getting my mind out of "default skin look & feel" mode after tweaking/building the default skins for MB4, I will hopefully overcome this soon & have something to upload in a day or two

No-one else has mentioned this, so it's obviously just me, but my album art doesn't display - see attached images. There's definitely folder.jpg files and probably internal art image files, so I'm not sure what I've done wrong.

I have uploaded a new beta of MB4 to address some of the good feedback raised so far.

1. I adjusted the MB4 screen display to delays writing when you use the up/down hours. I think this is an improvement but you can change this Display in the Options menu and if there is interest it can be a configuration item. On the PC with the keyboard it might even scroll too fast to see, especially if you have Fast keyboard repeat setting in Windows.

2. You can change from Compilation to All Album view on the main menu and toggle with Alt-G/Green

3. Instead of manually changing the option to Filter the Artist view each time you enter MB4 you can save the option to to not include compilation items in MusicBox.xml using:

<FilterArtist>True</FilterArtist>

This will be added to the config screen at some point

4. Updated UltraID3Lib to current version. Could improve scanning depending on the tags you use.

5. Fixed a couple of outstanding issues from ML3 scan. Scanning would not identify non-mp3 files that were not tagged. Also files were not being added to the database if UltraID3Lib didn't like them. Most of these files are playable, but you might want to check the Interfaces.log after a scan to see which files were identified to avoid pops and noises on bad audio files.

"hours" I suspect=arrows And man does this make a HUGE difference with my snail system, I will now withdraw my comment about navigation on my NMT being slower than on the PC as I feel it is now actually slightly faster.... good work

tieke I have just uploaded another patch to MB4 that adds support for ID3v22 tags and album art. I suggest giving the update a try, perhaps you are this older format. This might be the case if you use iTunes.
