Hi everyone. I have a single tuner ( not a dual tuner ) when recording freinds on Gem (HD) it records two copies of the same show, when it should record one copy. The tuner has unique channels. This doesn't happen on hd channels. any pointers ?

so it is a single tuner. I have another dual tuner, of a different brand and it does the same thing. so i disconnected this one and disabled it to confirm it is not the tuner.
nearly there...... thanks

I have had the same, It turned out to be me that had scgeduled the same show twice. Look at pending or recurring screen to check.

I see what you mean, i do have double ups. Can't see how it could make 2 recordings on a single tuner. BUT i will delete these. How do you delete all of them as it is no drama ???

With digital broadcasting, there are usually multiple channels broadcast on a single frequency (multiplexing) with this a tuner can record multiple channels at the same time on the same tuner - Magic.

Or in his case, 2 copies of the same channel.

yeah, who wants to recodings of the same show... My system is evolving beautifully thanks to npvr. I have 4 usb tv tuners hanging of a powered usb hub. This connects to a laptop 1.6 gig with 4 gig of ram running windows 7. This sits hidden away on a cupboard. I then vnc to this laptop from anywhere in the house wirelessly to get to the NPVR epg on this laptop to record or schedule recordings. The laptop has an external usb hard drive where the shows are recorded ( shared ). This also means the maintanence of scheduling and cleaning up recordings can be done from anywhere in the house, instead of having to sit in front of the tv to manage this. One thing left to figure out is that last night i put on the searchlite plugin, very usefull. But when i click on a show to record it dosen't let me do anything else but record. You know how you click on the orange arrows to record every every episode on this channel, well it dosen't go to this. Anyone with a tip ? Will report back tonight on the double ups .

why not use the web tv guide (NEWA) - that would stop you needing to vnc into the machine each time just to schedule shows - you can set that up from MVP & WEB page in the settings.

I could easily have missed this, if you have a question on SearchLite, it would be best to post in the plugin section of the forum. I didn't really focus on the mouse with SearchLite, since I figured if you are on a keyboard the left and right arrow keys would be good enough. If you create a new topic so others can see my reply, I can upload a version that enables the mouse on the arrows.
