I am playing back some BlueRay rip MKV files with subtitles. Anyone know how to turn the subtitles off when playing them through nPVR?
Cheers.

NextPVR has no control over subtitles in MKV files. It just askes Windows Directshow to play this type of file, and if you get subtitles it's because thats how Directshow choose to display it.

Usually you can right-click DirectShow's icon in systray and select No Subtitle. Be sure to have the Haali splitter installed (http://haali.su/mkv/)

If you're using SAF5/6 or probably just ffdshow for the subs, you can turn them off/on with a key. Control-S?? Cant remember, search for Hoborg's post that details the key combination...

Ctrl-S is equal to Stop in npvr.

Assuming these are subtitles for languages you don't need/want/read, you could just use mkvtoolnix to remove the unwanted subtitles. Just open the file, un-check the ones you don't want, and save. Works well for multiple audio tracks too if someone has included both aac and ac3 and you prefer one or the other.

But with the Haali splitter you are able to select audiotrack and subtitle without touching the original file.

Remux the file and turn forced subtitles off.

You dont need to remux the file. If using the right filters you can turn them off/on with a key press, I just cant remember what keys it is! But there is a post that says and I have it mapped to a button on my hauppauge remote.

I was only suggesting remuxing for the minority of files that have the force sub-title flag set.
