Hi. Seem to be getting another instance of a recording being cut off - NZ Top models.

Does seem weird though looks like it's stopping naturally according to the logs, but the file is only 3gb (dvb-t TV3) should be around 6 gb.

Here's the start:
Code:
2011-08-12 19:25:02.838    [DEBUG][7]    Started recording (4765:G:\Recordings\New Zealands Next Top Model\New Zealands Next Top Model_20110812_19302030.ts)
2011-08-12 19:25:00.625    [DEBUG][7]    Using tuner Hauppauge WinTV 88x DVB-T Tuner/Demod (1)

And as far as I can tell here's the end:
Code:
2011-08-12 20:35:00.172    [DEBUG][7]    Stopping recording (4765). Past end time of recording.

I assume that's what the number means? So it seems to stop after 30 mins...which might be for this:
Code:
2011-08-12 19:55:00.094    [DEBUG][7]    About to start recording (4791): G:\Recordings\Mad Love\Mad Love_20110812_20002030.ts
2011-08-12 19:55:00.122    [DEBUG][7]    Using tuner Nova-DT DVB-T Tuner (Dev1 Path1)  (1)

But as far as I can tell they're different tuners.

Any thought?

There is no definitive cause shown in the logs. It looks like its correctly using separate filters, but I do have my suspicions about the Nova-DT tuners. I've seen some things in the past that make me think these devices have screwy drivers. Unless you can reproduce the problem though, it's pretty hard to confirm either way.

It'd be interesting to see if you disable of Of the Nova-DT's two tuners, if the problem goes away.

If that's not the cause, then there is a some lower level logging we could turning to helps us understand what is happening with the data streams from each device. These logs are massive though, so hard to justify leaving them logging this unless you know the problem is likely to occur.

It seems to happen every friday (this is the 2nd in a row) although last week I thought there was a recording trying to use a satellite tuner that could have been affecting it. However I removed that and moved it back to dvb-t - so everything around that period should be on dvb-t.

I've never been able to set up conditions to make this happen...but this one happens naturally. Would mucking around with the tuner priority help?

What could I look at for a replacement for the nova t - PCI though, or I'd get a HVR2200. Thinking about a HDhomerun.

Oh very weird....the file is reporting a last modified date of 20:35....

But VLC cuts off at the same point as npvr, and the file size is smaller. I think it's since I added that mad love recording on channel 2 that it's stopped working.

So the current tuner order i have is:
HVR3000 (2) - DVB-T - Disabled
Nova T (1) - DVB-T
Nova T (2) - DVB-T
HVR3000 (1) - DVB-S
HVR3000 (2) - DVB-S
HVR3000 (1) - DVB-T

I have the Nova T 500 dual dvb-t tuner and 2x HVR3000.

Before next Friday's recordings, you could create a c:\temp directory, and set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NPVR\LogTSWriter=1 (DWORD), then capture the c:\temp\writer*.txt files, aswell as the nrecord.log, and I can take a closer look.

Do I have to restart for this to take effect? Server, service or npvr?

I've set up conditions similar hopefully tomorrow.

Yes, you'd probably have to restart the recording service for this to take effect.

Here's the entry I created:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NPVR]
"LogTSWriter"=dword:00000001

And after restarting recording service I'm not getting a log file. Is it correct? if so I'll reboot.

On 64 bit Windows it'll be:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NPVR
