Can someone tell me or point me to information that explains how to share a folder/directory so that the NPVR recording service running as a system service can write to the folder? Or, is it as simple as just sharing a folder with "everyone"? Or, does it need to be mapped as a drive on the remote machine? Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You could do do a couple of things, you can run the recording service as a named user or you can run my ShareHelper2 utility that allows you to use share including driver letters at the local system level.

If this (as I suspect) is for network firewire tuning, note the I have a feature coming which changes the root mapping, so only the NPVR or network client has to write to a share.

You suspect correctly. I'll wait for your new version. The question was as much for my education (since I see this mentioned fairly frequently on the forum) as it was for getting TestRecorder working as a network tuner.

Thanks.

You might need to write to a network drive anyway, with firewire I need to do everything I can to maximize writing throughput.
