I need to update to capture more channels than are on clear QAM, so I am looking at either a Hauppauge Colossus or an HD PVR. I prefer the Colossus due to the lower price, but have seen some poor comments on some web sites. So my question, is the Colossus as good as the HD PVR at this time? Stability is key.

I'd wait a couple of weeks and see if anything happens on the Hauppauge DCR-2650 front.

I have a Colossus and an HD-PVR; the Colossus (bought during the pre-release sale) has been rock stable, the HD-PVR (F1 firmware) locks up weekly. Both run 7/24. When the HD-PVR dies I'll get another Colossus.

Wow, that looks very interesting, and provides hope for my digital cable future. Looking forward to good news!
What, me worry?

Anything like that coming (or already existing) for dvb-s(2)? Otherwise I'm also looking at the colossus and the hd-pvr. From what i've read hear, the colossus might be to prefer of the two. And it has a much lower price also, at least here the hd-pvr is about 50 % more expensive.

Any input on my thoughts is highlyl appreciate.

I guess the most similar thing in the DVB parts of the world and cards that have CI slots, for inserting CAM and smartcard. Alternatively you can use softcams with multidec.

I only really mentioned it because he was in North America, and the situation is changing a bit there at the moment.

Is the DCR-2650 going to be supported? That looks like a great alternative to the cable box/ir blaster mess i have to use now.

The DCR-2650 will be supported for 'copy-freely' channels.
