Is it best to install as admin, then apply most recent cumulative patch? Or start and setup program then patch.. Have previously uninstalled 2.03 already and was getting no communication recorder error although channels scanned. Thanks

It should not matter, but it often shows that it is best to run the installer as Admin. Just make sure everything is stopped before you run the installer or apply patches.

Something odd. After uninstalling program and public/user folder and install folder the new install prompts me to install to the "P" directory, same as before. How did it remember this? When I browse to the P:NPVR folder from install dialogue it's still there (?), but does not appear in windows7 explorer. Where did it come from? I deleted it from installation dialogue and will try again.

HELP!!! Got the dreaded "Unable to communicate with recording device" after channel scan. I am attaching log. This is what hosts file looks like:

# Copyright © 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

It looks as the recording service is not installed, or at least not installed correctly. What windows are you running?

Windows 7 OS. Thanks for the reply. Noticed 2 things in the log.

1. FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MainConcept (HCW) MPEG Multiplexer-Plus

2. Unexpected socket exception calling StartStream(): System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8968

Anything else you can tell me? It scans all the channels so what isn't installed? Did my firewall block something?

Will do. Installed as admin but will turn off Firewall and AV.

Identical Results it says successful install.

Nothing in the newer log that helps? It kept the full channel scan and recognizes the tuners but no live TV.

Do you see the 'NPVR Recording Service' listed when you run the Services control panel?
