Not having a clue what a Sage encoder is or how it works, but the words "tuner plugin" begs the question (for me) "could a 'tuner plugin' work with something like a DVB tuner in a networked PC?"

That's an interesting question. And what about an USB-network hub with tuners attached?

SageDCT (which is the SageTV solution for Ceton) is a network encoder so you should have something for copy freely soon.

Martin

I'm familiar and have SageDCT, I was actually in the process of changing over to SageTV when the buy out happened so I couldn't get the need licenses. All the content in my FiOS market is copy freely and hopefully will stay that way at least until another solution is available, this does make it possible to at least have a 7MC VM for recording, but I'd like to do away w/ the VMs so I can suspend my server when not needed plus I'd much rather have a true client/server DVR set up.

I'll be looking forward to your plugin in the next version.

Are you sure that SageDCT requires 7MC for recording? I know that SageMCTuner does but it is a completely different product.

No, it will work on server 2008 R2 or WHS 2011(any Win 7 architecture based OS-at least the Ceton drivers are limited to this, not including the new Linux drivers), but since the only thing I can run my Ceton right now is 7MC for longer than 21 days, I'm required to run a Win 7 VM on my server. My plan is to only have server 2008 R2 on my server and run NPVR server on it w/ no VMs, as of right now I'm network sharing my Ceton to my HTPC from the server but I'll just run NPVR client on the HTPC once I can use my Ceton w/ it.

SageMCTuner actually uses 7MC to access the tuners.

Thanks, we can't use DVR tuners here in Canada and I can't even test so I wanted to make sure I was understanding things correctly.
