Sorry for the long title - but I am having all the above issues.
I have searched previous posts on some of these issues and tried suggested fix's but to no avail.

To clarify, right clicking and selecting "setup" I see in red:
"WARNING: The DirectX runtime is not available on this machine. Software rendering instead."

When trying to play live TV I get the message:
"Unable to communicate with recording service."

And when trying to update the EPG it crashes.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, I have .Net 3.5 (& 4), DirectX 11 (& have tried running the web updater of 9.0c)
Have all the latest Win7 updates.
I think I may have disabled Windows Media Centre - that's the only thing I can think of that logically might cause a problem.

I was successfully using GB-PVR until a day or so ago when I upgraded to NPVR. Am hoping I wont have to go back to GB-PVR...but right now can't see any other options - so would really appreciate some input.
Many thanks in advance.

for the DirectX issue, see the second post of the thread in my signature - there's a link to the full directx installer which is reported to work when the web installer does not.

for the rest, post your logs (which is also explained in the same post).

that wont help the intel chip will always show the error and directx wont work
just to add a bit more Sub has made adjustments so its not so important if it doesnt work(ie doesnt cause cpu to go nuts)

Do you have any explanation why it doesnot working on older Intel GPUs?
I have Intel 82945G chipset (DX9) here and the same issue. And yes, latest (9.29.1974.0) dxwebsetup.exe is installed.
Strange is that this problem only happend in gb-pvr/npvr.
No problems in for example MPC-HC/MediaPortal - but MePo maybe using different interface, no idea.

Just to clarify - I can use GB-PVR fine - but I've never been able to get NPVR to work.

But are we saying that it won't work, should work or might work ? Is there anything else I can do to get it working, or is it a case of revert to GB-PVR ? (Media portal seems bloated to me so don't really want to go there)
Thanks

It will still work just doesn't have nice flowing menus
I have a netbook that it doesn't work on and once video is playing back the cpu sits at about 12%

Hoborg if you cant get it going then there is no hope for the rest of us Smile
I have no idea why its not working but its definitely only on intel for me ati and nvidia are fine
even though the intel chip specs seem to say different

Looks like the recording service did not install correctly. Have you tried running the installer as Administrator?
