I use the free to air program guide (in Oz) and during the week scheduled some recordings for the weekend. The program guide was later altered quite dramatically by the broadcaster. I had a bit of bother trying to get npvr to update it's epg info to reflect the changes (visible natively on my tv) and with hindsight I guess the best thing would have been to delete my scheduled recordings first and start again.

So my question is, what does npvr do when it has recordings scheduled via the guide and the guide info subsequently changes? If it doesn't alert the user to the fact that scheduled recordings are no longer valid, I'd definitely like to add that to the feature wishlist. Big Grin

Other than not scheduling recordings too far in advance, any tips to avoid problems?

Cheers.

Each night when it does the epg update it does try to adjust scheduled recordings to if it can identify the new times for the show (same name, approximately the same start time, ie within +/-5 mins, then within +/- 35 mins, then within +/-90 mins). If no alternative match can be found then it goes with the original times.

Ahhh... das ist good!

My recordings were shifted from around midnight to late afternoon. Too big a move for npvr to recognise by the sounds of it. Thanks for the info.

ps If npvr knows something has changed but can't resolve it as in my case, it would be a nice thing if it were to issue a message to that effect (or did I miss it?). If I'm not mistaken my epg service is managed by hampsters so it can be less than reliable.

if you schedule your recordings as any-day, any-time recurring recordings, then npvr will find them no matter how far they move. if it's a single recording you want, then you'd just need to delete the recurring recording later on; a minor pain compared to missing the recording altogether.
