I am hoping someone can tell if there is a way to have the recording file names include the season and episode numbers. Currently, all my recordings are stored as "The Office\The Office_20110512_20302100.mp4". In the end, I would like to have this file named "The Office\The Office S07.E10.China.mp4".

It seems like GuidePlus can do what I am looking for (plus some others) but only if I use xml info from schedules direct (which I don't, I download directly from schedules direct).

FYI - I am still using NPVR 2.0.3

Thank you in advance

The season and episode number info isnt supplied in the info schedules direct or the vast majority of XMLTV source, so this info isnt known by the application, and it cant add it to your filenames.

I was afraid of that. Thank you for the quick response.

Th eonly way to do it would be (and this would be a US way only) know the date the episode aired, and lookup tvdb air date and rename the description/file accordingly.

Wouldn't work anywhere else as tvdb is based on the us schedules.

It's not just air date often the subtitle can be used if you have it. For next week Two and a Half Men the subtitle is "Nice to Meet You, Walden Schmidt" easily getting S09E01 from the thetvdb, tvrage.com, and even imdb or zap2it This is the way I would use it if I expanded on imageGrab to rename recordings realizing many people don't have this either.

Air date is terrible I have about 10 choices for Two and a Half Men per day.

I wrote a little vbs script that I run on the xmltv guide data (in north america) that extracts the original air date and the episode number and appends it to the description. After recording a show, I use the npvr NScriptHelper program to get the description and parse the episode info and use it to rename the recording.

I'd like a plugin that removes Two and a Half Men from my TV Guide! Big Grin

NorthPole - Any chance you would share your scripts?

Ok, attached is the script. A little word of warning, I'm not a program guru but it works good for me. However, this is not a fast process. My xmltv file that I download has about 500 channels listed in it. If I process all channels with the script, it takes about 2 hours. Therefore, I have it set up to delete all of the channels that I don't want or get. That leaves about 50 channels. With that number, it takes about 25 min to run on my old single core dell. To run the script use this line:

cscript.exe //nologo "c:\[myxmlfilelocation]\XMLUpdate.vbs" "c:\[myxmlfilelocation]\xmltv.xml" c:\[myxmlfilelocation]\xmltvUpdate.xml"

this takes the original file xmltv.xml processes the data and creates a new one named xmltvUpdate.xml

Once its done, point your npvr channels to the new xml file.

NOTE: You need to change the channel list for your area so edit the vbs script with notepad and find the two 'Select Case' sections and replace the values there with your own.

Good Luck.

EDIT: added the needed layout file

I'm intrigued, but mainly by how long you say it takes to run. Could you post the original XML file so I could have a look at it?

If all you're doing is appending some elements from one place in a programme's entry to another (the end of the description node), that shouldn't be too taxing (I'd hope).
