Since the build in August, these functions no longer work properly. Tonight I started NPVR, then did a CTRL-Q to pause. A little while later, I restarted and watched for a while. Then a commercial came on and I wanted to jump forward. No matter what keys I hit, the video started back at the start - no jumping at all. Also, I have noticed, that sometimes if you then TRY IT AGAIN that it seems to start functioning more normally, like it is supposed to. But something is definitely wrong upon first use. My logs are attached.

LiveTV - now, in fact, I can't get it to work no matter what. CTRL-F always goes back to the start, as well. Doesn't matter if I have paused, or am in pause, or have never paused - it simply does not work. And it used to work back in Aug, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed the difference. (I never use NPVR to run recorded stuff, just LiveTV).

I've not had a chance to document it well, but I've had a lot of trouble with skipping since adding in all the latest patches. both in livetv and recorded shows. symptoms like a_edwall is describing (but not all the time), plus have had to give up on auto-comskip altogether as it's so far off on the majority of the shows as to make it unusable. I guess this is one of those pointless "me too" posts with nothing really helpful, but at this point I'm just exhausted.

I have described these issues in this post http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post421889
I reverted to the R1 patches which did not have the issue but skipping on pause was not working. Applying R2 patch I now see these issues on recordings which are in progress, (it probably also happens with Live TV but I don't use that function) completed recordings do not seem to have the issue now.

I wouldn't say that "Me too" posts are completely pointless, if one user reports that the Play button has stopped working the first thought is that there's something wrong in his system, but if 50 more users are saying "Me too", you might want to look at the code again Smile

I have had problems with pause and skip forward recently on my client. Earlier in the week “Pause” worked ok but on starting again it would jump to the very beginning of the programme. It still happened after a reboot but a clean reinstall of NPVR cured that problem.

This morning “Skip Forward” stopped working. I needed to skip about ½ hour but every time I pressed “Jump Forward” it would jump back to the point where I first pressed “Skip”. Trying to skip using the Time Line failed as it just started to play from the same point. I started to “Play” the file instead and this enabled me to jump using the Time Line but afterwards I was still unable to skip forwards. I just checked it this afternoon and all is now ok as the client has been rebooted.

Today I paused LiveTV, then when I came back to it 5 minutes later, after a short bit of playing, the screen said, "Encrypted content" and the screen goes blank and stays blank. I don't watch encrypted content so this message makes no sense to me. In addition, the timer went nuts as you can see by the attached. All in all, this version is unusable because of the pause problems, the skip problems, the inability to save a .ts file when things act up, so I lose everything I have been watching, etc.

UPDATE: Due to all the problems I have described, I have gone back to the 29 Aug 2011 (1 pm) .exe files and things work fine.

Since timing info is not saved along with the live-buffer, what you have already watched cannot be saved as a recording, this is a big drawback. Also I suspect that the lack of timing info is one reason why skipping is unreliable in live-tv. Sub, can you change that so that timing info is always saved?

a_edwall (or others), if you want to pick a scenario that consistently causes the skipping problem, then I can collect some more logs to see what is happening. You should pick as simple a scenario as possible, with small set of steps, and preferrable with an existing recording rather than live.

Create a c:\temp directory, set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NPVR\LogSlipFile=1 (DWORD), then reproduce that problem, then zip and attach the c:\temp\reader.log and a description of the scenario.

Make sure its a reproducible scenario so I can add logging and have you repeat the test.
