On some of the channels (maybe a handful out of 60) there is no audio. How do i figure out what this problems is?
If you want to know why nPVR is the bomb, ask my wife!

Today, I also found that one (1) channel has no sound. I know that the live feed on TV has sound. I have been looking here to see if there is some keyboard sequence used, for some unknown reason, specifically to mute a station but have had no luck. I looked for this because I suspect I was entering keystrokes when it happened although I can't recall the details. Rebooting does not fix it.

Have you ruled out the fine tuning possibility?
I'm not always right

Okay, being a Newb, it took me a few minutes to locate the Tuning Assistant in the GB-PVR program group - duh.
I have noted the freq. of 265.250 for my channel and when it is on that freq. I do get sound in the Tuning Assistant. Being a NEWB, I didn't seem to be able to locate where to enter this figure to GB-PVR in "Config". :o But patient reading brought me to bgowland's instructions at: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...+assistant and I have my sound back! Still a NEWB, but making small steps forward. Thanks all

Okay, it LOOKED like sound on channel 32 was fixed.... but it was the sound and picture of channel 31 instead. (Running PVR-150 on XP Pro with cable TV, Toronto, Canada) I have tested and retested it and this is what is happening. a) Beyond TV also shows a picture but no sound on that same channel - 32. b) WinTV provides sound only after I slightly adjust the tuning (+1). c) When I enter the freq. that the Tuning Assistant displays for my channel, I see a picture and sound for the station below (channel 31) and do NOT get the channel number showing at the bottom of the screen when changing to that channel. d) When I enter the freq. that the Tuning Assistant shows for channel 33, I get the picture for channel 32 showing up but NO sound. e) Live TV on a conventional TV has the sound on this channel so it is not a "broadcasting" problem. All of this was working for weeks and weeks until yesterday. Any more tips out there? Thanks in advance ....

PEverett Wrote::mad: ARGH Same exact problem on a Win XP system using the PVR 150. When I use the tuning assistant frequency, I just get the sound and video for the channel under the desired channel. Perhaps this is user error entering the frequency in the wrong place, but I doubt it.

I hope by following up here that I am being helpful... or maybe I'm just being a dumb Newb... :o
Anyway, having confirmed that the frequency showing in the Tuning Assistant window for channel 33 (freq. 271250000) would actually tune to channel 32, I boldly went into the registry and created HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TS0-1\32 with a DWORD value of that frequency (271250000 decimal). (I figured the above might work after seeing how the FreqCopy routine works as posted on the GB-PVR Wiki site.) Then I started GB-PVR and channel 32 displayed the proper channel with what I will call a 100% quality picture, but with 0% sound. So, I began toying with that registry entry. I found that at a frequency of 272700000 I can get adequate sound (maybe 80%) and a reasonable picture (maybe 80%). Higher frequency gave me better sound, poorer picture, and vise versa for lower frequency. By the way, I have what I think is a pretty clean cable signal and am using a $75 splitter. All other channels are so crisp that I love this program now that I am learning the features. Is this type of "tweaking" normal to the PVR experience on the PC platform? Or am I just making my own life difficult by missing some easy way to tune this station and get back the 100% picture, 100% sound I had until yesterday on this channel? Thanks for all the help received from all the posters on various threads!

Perhaps I will let the BTV stream receipients here share the PVR-150 :p How is the Hauppauge PVR-USB2 ? I bought one for my son but it is unopened as of yet.... Anyway, great product, I have made a contribution to your efforts. |
