HVR-1600 black screen in live TV

Hi all-

I used GBPVR for some time, then mainboard issues put the PVR on a back burner.

I'm setting this back up now on a box with a new mainboard, and a Hauppauge 1600, with NPVR.

WinTV 7 works great- IR blaster fine, recordings fine, video image great.

NPVR though just shows a black screen for live TV.

I was using WinTV7.0.x from the install CD. I tried upgrading to WinTV 7.2.x (latest on their site) and I have the drivers in place (installer step 1) but WinTV itself I could not update to 7.2 as I don't have the CD handy. WinTV still works fine though.

I put on the AC3filter1.62B, no change.

My video source is from set-top box to analog TV-in on this card. Do I need the "softpvr" utilities mentioned on the wiki perhaps? I expected not, since I had a WinTV install already.

I'll see if I can dig up that CD (I hate that) but do not at the moment think is is involved. In the meantime, I have seen via search that there are a couple posts about this issue but no fixes that I could see.

log directory and config file attached. This is under WinXP. NPVR: I had the August 2.6 release in place, then added the Oct release with the extra patches when I noticed this issue, without a change

If you've got WinTV installed then you dont need softpvr.

I think it just relates to your decoders. I'd avoid those Intervideo and Ulead decoder you currently have selected. Instead, maybe go for the same decoders WinTV is using. ie, MainConcept video decoder for MPEG2, and the MainConcept audio decoder for MPEG1 Layer 2, Hauppauge AC3 decoder for AC3.

I had tried all available, those in the log were just the most recent left there. The attached logs have the set I would expect to work in use. How do I get the loglevel to be more verbose?

I'll get either mostly black static, or a black screen. It's like NPVR isn't looking for the right input source, somehow. I'd think the card was defective for the output I'm using but winTV works fine.

Did someone else with this issue find a config setting that helped? I know the card works for most....

There is no known issues with this. I'm pretty sure you selected the wrong input options when you imported your channels.

How are you connecting from your set top box to the tv card - svideo, composite or via coax on fixed channel like CH2/3? I can see your tuning request in the log is not setup for any of these. Instead it's configured as thought it was directly connected to analog cable (ie, able to tune without a set top box).
