Schedules Direct isn't a data source, it provide access to the zap2it database and the unique identifier does help with link to both the season and episode number http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/grimm-pi...4189710001 It's not explicit but the regex on the returned page is pretty easy.

I'm not going to do a web query to pull it in for each of the sometimes-hundreds-of-thousands of listings that users pull in each night, so this information is effectively not available when the app looks at the listings to decide which shows should or shouldnt be recorded. Also, it'd be against zap2it's terms and conditions, so not something I'd build into the application.

It's one thing to do some lookups for the comparitively small number of recordings a user as made, but a different story to have that info available for all listings.

Sorry for any confusion, I never expected that you would, I was explaining how 7MC and (currently) SageTV that have access to Zap2It data can get the information. What I was suggesting was the original_air_date would be very effective.

On a UK Freeview forum I recently complained about spelling mistakes in the EPG meant that I had missed some series recordings.

You are not alone - I have the same problem with series recordings in New Zealand (and I use guide data obtained from the Freeview broadcast EPG). It's not unusual for me to end up with two or three entries in recurring recordings for a series to catch the different variations.

I'm pretty sure mc2xml with Windows MCE data provides the series and episode numbers so it would be nice if NPVR could use this.
