I went to manual recording and was able to specify a time and it recorded. I can't figure out how to be on a channel and just start recording? As I mentioned before I hope to use Titantv to select future programs to record. Has anyone been able to do this? Thanks
Good to hear Smile. Have you tried mc2xml to download epg for your area?

Thanks for the reply and earlier help. I'm going to have a further try at that. I couldn't figure it out yet. I'm having another problem which concerns me more right now. Since I started trying to make Next PVR work my XP Laptop has been failing to shut down properly. This has hardly ever happened over the last few years. The NPVR program and the other programs needed for it are the only software changes I've made in the last few weeks. It hangs on the final message "Windows is shutting down". I've tried disconnecting the TV Card but it still hangs. Also it wasn't hanging with the card still in when I was using Sagetv earlier. So something has changed recently. Any clues on what might be happening?

Sorry no, but you can try to download the MCE Standby tool and see if it has any clues.

I'm glad to hear switching to the hardware encoder got you a proper picture.

there's some help for MC2XML in the tech support sticky linked in my signature. I really recommend just using Schedules Direct though... free trial, $20 per year, built-in support in NPVR. technically, MC2XML steals listing data you have no right to, unless you use it with Schedules Direct in which case you don't need MC2XML anyway!

I don't know what to say to that one... I can't recall single report ever of either NPVR nor GB-PVR causing a shutdown failure. It's a pretty benign piece of software. The proof would be to manually shutdown NRecord first (use the Stop NPVR Service icon in the start menu), and make sure it's gone by checking the task manager. If it still doesn't shutdown then you really can't blame NPVR.

There seems to be a connection there. I hit exit in the nvpr icon in the taskbar. Then it was still running under nrecord in taskmanager so I closed that. It then shutdown correctly.

When you exit in the tray-icon you just end the Ntray status opp. To terminate all npvr use the script shortcut in Start->All Programs->NPVR-> Stop NPVR. That should do it.

Yes, shutdown nrecord as advised by Reddwarf, then check to see if it's really gone in Task Manager. If it isn't, post your NRecord.log. It probably won't show anything useful, but it's a first step.

In many cases, the next step would probably be to produce a debug dump of NRecord while it's in that state (stopped by service control yet still hanging in task manager), but currently sub is preparing a new release so his debug environment is no longer compatible with any dump you would produce. So in this case, unless your log reveals anything, you'll have to wait a couple of weeks for NPVR 2.3.x and see if the problem occurs then at which point more diagnosis can occur.

Lately the PC has been shutting down most of the time. Every once in a while it hangs. This morning I received a shutdown error message asking if I wanted to send it to Microsoft. No idea what the specific technical details mean. I'm just passing it along in case something in it sheds some light for people working on the software.
