Yup. If someone's program files comes up as something else it will break. I'm redoing my bats and will edit the original post to point this out. You can't use paths with spaces in it for some reason though. it just breaks it! It took me ages to figure that out when first starting off! Big Grin

b00sfuk Wrote:Just started playing with this. I follow the logic and everything works up to updating the database. I got an error with NScriptHelper saying "Unable to file existing recording with filename...." . What I found was that these 2 settings were needed to be set to false in the config.xml file. (can't remember what defaults were so it might not affect everybody). Otherwise recordings can be removed after the renaming of the file but before the renaming in the database.

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>
<CheckForRenamedRecordings>false</CheckForRenamedRecordings>

Was using the batch file posted earlier in the thread. To avoid this I guess it might be cleaner to have it copy the file first, then rename in database then delete the old copy of the file.
Lol. I found this out too recently and one of the first posts I came to was yours when searching! Smile I'm playing ouround with it now and this fixes the rename-recoding BAT problems anyway. Thanks.

Cheers dude. Glad to know people are finding it useful. Updates coming soon too BTW.

I've (hopefully) got this all working perfectly now and have updated to v1.2 on my site. I wasn't using call properly and the automatic rename wasn't working. I'm going to add a bit later now to delete the file if it's 0kb becuase the recording fails (which has been happening a lot recently for some reason). Sad

NScriptHelper.exe for Vista 32bit?

I got the various bat files and edited them based on where my NPVR stuff was located and downloaded the NScriptHelper.exe but Vista keeps telling me it is not a valid 32bit application. Is there an equivalent for 32 bit windows?

If you install the latest version of NextPVR it includes the newest version of NScriptHelper that should work.

I had installed it last week, so I guess I have it. Do you know what directory it ends up in? (Sorry, am at work and can't check)

It's put in the same folder as npvr.exe etc in "c:\program files\nextpvr\". Did you manually download the NScripthelper from here and copy it over AFTER installing NextPVR if you did, you will have overwritten the newer one that was added in when you installed NextPVR. You will need to run the installer again to fix this. I would advice running it again anyway just to be sure! It won't wipe your recordings etc. If, after installing again, you still get the error, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for sub to reply to tell you what's wrong with the exe he has kindlt made up for us.

Cool - with a couple of fixes (didn't read the thread carefully enough about the names/paths for the Program Files directory), I've got both the manual and automated renaming working! Thanks for the help.

Follow up question - do you know if there is more info available through NScriptHelper.exe like original air date or anything like that?

That's a question you may want to make a new thread for as you're more likely to get answers from people who know. Or you may have to use a command-line SQL program to spit it out for you.
