Just brought a Samsung LED TV and spent 4 days trying to get rid of the the contrast flicker when going from dark to light scenes
Turned out to be I had ticked pulldown detection in ati settings on the PC

thought id mention it in case some else hates their Samsung tv as much as I did till i found it
now i think its not bad apart from the coulours been a bit in your face (a bit more tweaking yet)

actually, it sounds like you have 'dynamic contrast' turned on...it will give you the exact symptoms you mention..
['dynamic range' doesn't produce the contrast flicker like dynamic contrast]
pulldown detection only produces stutter if it's not detecting right..not contrast issues..
newer ati cards have lessened the bad effect of the dynamic contrast so it's not so noticeable..[HD64xx +]

pretty much all of the color tweaks in ati ccc are unnecessary...just get the monitor colorspace right and you'll be accurate without them..

Nah all that shit is turned off on the tv even went into the service menu to make sure

If running in window mode it only shows in the window not the whole screen so it the stupid ATI video card doing it

The reason i posted this is to save someone who thinks its the dynamic contrast because that is what I spent 4 days in the service menus of the tv trying to turn off when it wasn't the tv at all

There is also a dynamic contrast settin in ATI's CCC. Make sure that is not on as well.

Keep in mind, that setting seems to become re-enabled for some people whenever they do a driver update so it's always one of the first things I check afterwards.
