Is there a way to stream live TV to android tablet from NEWA?
I can watch recordings with SMB share, and a clumsy way to watch "live" TV is to start a recording and then watch it with a little delay from SMB share.
I was just wondering if there is a better way to do it.

have vlc installed on your tablet? Use the play live link in newa...
not sure if it'll work, but that's where i'd start..
or you can manually start vlc and try to connect that way..

You can play live tv directly without vlc or NEWA by entering the URL in your player.

http://your_ip:8866/live?channel=###

On my HTC HD2 running android the URL Martin posted works perfectly via the excellent MX video player. [edit] and if you save the URLs as bookmarks in the default broswer, it will launch MX player for you.

It was also ran at about 50% speed the HD channels (but great image)

yet another example of how amazingly cool this capability really is.

The HP TouchPad just got HTTP streaming video support today with webOS 3.0.5... I'm going to have to try that as soon as I get the update installed. Will report back (not that I've seen any indication that anyone around here but me has a TouchPad).

I've got a TouchPad, but I use it with CM7 (hopefully CM9 soon, ICS!!) and Mobo Player or MX Player for Live TV (same method gEd mentions).

I haven't booted to webOS in a while. Maybe I'll try out 3.0.5 before CM9 is let loose.

Well webOS 3.0.5 doesn't seem to understand the http video stream. It does start the stream, and it shows a stream called "live" downloading, but it doesn't seem to know to route it to the video player. maybe if the stream was named "live.mpg" or something like that it would work. I can't figure out how to stop the stream either, so I'll just have to restart the recording service.

Thanks!

On my HTC ChaCha it works but the audio is faster than the video (or probably the video is slower than the audio) and then the audio stops after about 15 seconds but the video keeps going. Not a huge problem as this is really on a gimmick but any ideas?

If you've upgraded to npvr 2.3.6 there's a new url you can try which allows setting resolution and bitrate.

Example...
Code:
http://server_ip:8866/transcode?channel=1&resolution=720x406&bitrate=900k
It might be worth playing with.
