I have a dual-boot system: Win 7 x32 Home Premium and Win 7 x64 Enterprise.
NextPVR 2.3.6 on both.

On the HP system, the font rendering is good. See HP screen shot (left) vs the one from Enterprise (right).
What settings have I not got correct?

Bit dificult to see from those small images - but

If it is in every program on the enterprise ed. perhaps it is a font smoothing problem - clear type not enabled?

Or if it is just NPVR maybe you need to install the latest Direct X 9 - try the full install from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/det...px?id=8109 - I'm not sure if all the direct x is installed on the enterprise edition.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

OK, I didn't make myself clear.
Its the large font in NextPVR that is the problem.

Here are two bigger examples. The left hand one is Enterprise, the right Home Premium.
In real life, it is more noticeable.
That DirectX link made no difference.

Any other ideas?

It's probably some difference between the two video drivers. Whether it's a setting you can access, or some internal difference, I have no idea. I guess I'd start by ensuring you have the latest on both installations. Beyond that, I trust you are using the same resolution and the same video renderer in both cases?

what about if you display a large font in wordpad?

Did you check cleartype settings? Maybe enterprise does not have this feature (which sounds plausible)

The usual reason for this is that the application isnt setting it's internal renderer buffer to exactly the same size as your desktop. This means it has to scale the rendered image to fill your screen, and when it does this fonts can become jagged or blurry. By default it'll try to detect the desktop resolution to use, but you can force it with the 'UI Resolution' setting in the Settings screen.

What resolution are you running that desktop?

Is there multiple monitors on that machine? If so, and you're using the application on the second monitor, you should be using the 'start on second monitor' setting, so that it's dectecting the correct resolution.

Alternatively, you're not using an LCD screen with the video card set to the non native resolution? ie, like 1376x768 panel with video card running 1280x720?

OK, success.

I have two screens - (1) 1366 x 768 and (2) 1920x1080.
Screen (2) is my primary Windows screen.

When in windowed mode on screen (2), the font is bad.
If I switch to full screen mode, it displays on screen (1) and the font is good.

If I tick Start on Secondary Monitor, the font is good, even in windowed mode on screen (2). SmileSmileSmile

It must be looking at the resolution of screen (1), even though it is on screen (2), scaling it up and getting things blurry.

Terrific. Thanks to everyone for considering the problem for me.

Correct. If you dont tick 'start on secondary monitor' then it'll use the resolution from the primary monitor. It effects more than just the fonts though. You need to correctly use this setting to get hardware acceleration with the VMR9 Custom renderer, and a couple of other things.

OK, good.
To me "primary" meant the main Windows display, secondary meant the other one.
To NextPVR, primary is the one first found in hardware.

Cheers
