Hello and thanks for your help. I have been using my USB TV Stick for antenna DTV use for some time now on my XP computer. I have used the included ArcSoft TotalMedia software with decent success. I can play live TV, record, and playback. But basically, this software and its support are not up to snuff. So I hope that NPVR offers a better solution.

I have downloaded and installed the most recent NPVR. At first the Settings->About indicated that DirectX wasn't being found. So I again downloaded and installed from MS and that issue seems fixed. One small step!

In settings->Devices I see an ATSC Device called Auvitek Dongle Digital Tuner which would seem to be the MyGica device. But when I have the channels scanned, I get only 5 channels on the physical channel 8. With TotalMedia, I get MANY more channels! I am telling it to scan all frequencies. So what is going on here?

you have to post your logs after doing a scan. See the link in my signature for the location of the log files and other hopefully useful info.

Thanks for the pointer to what is needed. I have stopped the service and NPVR, deleted all the files, started the service and NPVR, deleted the channels that had been found on this device, and re-run the scan. I then stopped both NPVR and the service as WinZip reported errors unless I did. I have zipped and attached the contents of the log directory. Thanks for your help with this.

Here are the theoretical results for my location at tvfool <http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d0b86285fa5d355>. These map well to the results I get via ArcSoft TM. Thanks

Since in the logs I saw what seems like numerous .net errors, I double checked and the machine in question has the following .net packages installed:

Compact Framework 1 SP3 Developer
Compact Framework 2
Framework 1.1
Framework 2 SP2
Framework 3 SP2
Framework 3.5 SP1

It basically looks like this device is ignoring tuning requests and staying on the frequency it was originally one. I have no idea why that would be the case. Must be something quirky with the drivers for this device.

Thanks for the response. Do you think that this could have anything to do with Total Media still being installed?

No, I doubt it.

Well, it sounds like there is nothing to be done save uninstall NPVR and keep looking for some other replacement for Total Media. Thanks.

Personally I'd look for other versions of the MyGica drivers for this device. Other versions may behave differently.
