I would like to grab some un-encrypted channels on AB3 that are using "newtec" modulation.

This:
http://www.tbsdtv.com/products/tbs6925-d...-card.html

single tuner "professional" card can allegedly do this and has a host of extra features. I'm guessing I wont be able to tune the newtec modulation channels in NPVR which I can live with but I am more worried that perhaps it wont do the auto pilot and rolloff for normal DVB-s2 that would probably be required for NPVR S2 tuning. Does anyone have any experience of this card before I make an expensive mistake?

In the worst case, using the NetworkRecorder plugin with NextPVR it is possible to record from any device that DVBViewer supports or via NetworkRecord+SageMCE any device that WMC supports. YMMV

I posted the question on the TBS forum the response was:

Quote:I don't know if NPVR (GBPVR) requires something in particular, but generally there is no need to set anything else than frequency, polarization, SR, modulation and DVB protocol with the TBS 6925. Depending on the DVB program, you may not even have to set the modulation (QPSK, 8PSK) and the DVB protocol (DVB-S or DVB-S2), the card finds those parameters by itself.

So that gives me confidence that as a minimum normal DVB-S2 tuning will work in NPVR.

Martin I had not even thought about the network recorder plugin, that potentially means that if I cant get this strange newtec modulation tuning directly in npvr I may have a workaround that prevents me need to use DVBviewer as a front end just for certain channels.....very interesting I'll do some reading on the wiki.
