It is also possible to properly name episodes if you are recording both the original and spinoff let me know if you want this documented. Here "Being Human (UK)" and "Being Human (US)" are on each week but I couldn't find any other current examples.

Hi Martin,

If I live in the US & record Being Human (UK) and not Being Human (US), but I use this tool only for images and not renaming, am I correct to think I do not need the special directions?

It depends on the show, but typically if you are only recording one show but not both you will be okay. NextPVR knows these both as "Being Human" so if you already have art it will be whatever was there. If it is not, when thetvdb.org has the correct zap2it id (and it does for "Being Human") , imageGrabLite will also use the EPG unique_id to match and you will be okay for either the US or UK version.

If you are using TV Listing for scheduling a single recording it strips this unique id and you will get whatever is returned as "a direct match. ie Being Human" Since it is usually the UK version that was an original you would be ok for "Being Human". However you would fail for "Who Do You Think You Are?" on Friday. Special instructions wouldn't help because they need the unique_id.

Well, I'm not clever enough in batch file writin' to do a lot, but one example would be like I said, if I knew the reason why it failed to rename was the file was in use, I could wait a bit and try again. Similarly, I had one time that the rename didn't work because thetvdb.com didn't have episode information at the time, but it was available later that night.

As it is, I can go and look at the log file and maybe figure out if there was an error like above that I could correct for, so I guess having an errorlevel returned in most cases would just be a convenience, of not having to go hunting up the log file. For my particular purpose at the moment, as you said the "if not exist %1" will take care of what I currently need.

But just for a matter of curiosity, I think you might have misunderstood one of my questions. Right now you are returning the new name if the rename is successful (which could be useful, too, I think I might have asked about getting that value before). If it isn't successful, what does the program return?

Oh, and thanks again for all this. Tomorrow night's the big test - Being Human, Smash, and Castle all on.

One of the reasons I don't want to return an errorlevel is to avoid endless loops, it would be easy to do. Then thetvdb and tmdb would suspend my API key and all imageGrabLite users would be impacted.

It doesn't returning anything at all most of the time, only when there is a successful rename, that is why I gave examples.

You will need to remove any of the original xml files from Media\Shows and from Plugins\SearchLite\Series

Did some quick testing and Castle would fail because someone had entered the wrong Zap2it on more than one show. Since it isn't a spinoff (it is multi years) it fails that first check too. This handles duplicates entries with wrong ID's a little better.

Got it, we'll see how it goes.

Oh, Hawaii Five-0 tonight, too - is that going to be a problem or will it get the right one?

Because of the nature of the search it should match either Hawaii-5-0 as it is known on Zap2It today or Hawaii-5-O (2010) In fact the only way to match the original show which is only Hawaii-5-O (with the letter "O" not zero) is with an unique_id or original air_date.

In theory anyway.

Well, all the problem children worked without a hitch - Castle, Smash, Being Human, and 5-0 renamed properly. However, I did have 3 that didn't - Two and a Half Men, Alcatraz, and Hart of Dixie. Logs are attached. Alcatraz and Hart of Dixie have no file in the SearchLite/Series directory, but I'm also attaching the Two and a Half Men file. Looking at it, I see there isn't a listing for tonight's episode.

I can see an issue with Two and a Half Men not downloading a new copy of the xml file (attached will fix that) but the others work fine here (I reset my date to add the same episode), can I have their xml files from Media\Shows?

Here are the xml files. And I think you forgot to attach a file to the previous message.
